Got my HID's the other day and was wanting to fit them over the weekend.

Does anyone know how long it should take for a novice?

And does anyone have a guide how to fit them? Even a rough one will do:)

These are the ones i've bought, im guessing i dont need to fit the thing that stops the warning light as i've heard ibiza cupra tdi's don't have them.

Is there a way of taking the whole lighting section to make it easier? As diesel doesn't leave much (if any) room under the bonnet.:(

I took off the bumper, removed both lights, fitted HIDs to my dipped, main and fogs and had it all back together in 4 hours.

I'd imagine if you were in a rush you could halve that time

My advice would have been to have gone for a slim ballast set so then you would have been able to fit them inside the headlight unit itself. But with the ones you have bought you will more than likely have to take the bumper off.
If you go on the Forge website there is a guide on there on how to remove the bumper...there is a link on this forum somewhere but I couldnt find it for you.

I fitted mine in about 1 1/2 hours and i didnt remove lights or bumper, but that will depend on how much space you have to work with. As for a guide i used one off here but i cant seem to find it.

Lol well it's not hard really only have to plug it in and route it somewhere but I suppose my job as an aircraft electrician sort of helped with speed lol.
I got rid of them pads they are crap!
Tyrapped mine in the wing :)

I just mounted the ballasts on the headlight screw.

Yeah, it may look untidy but tbh... I don't care. They are sturdy and don't look bad at all in my eyes. These are the fat ballasts too.

Took me 30 mins, but most of that was thinking time. Took me 15 mins on my second Ibiza.

Hi Dom, looks like a good kit. You`re right about the resistor as the mk4 does`nt use bulb warnings.
With the ballasts you have the best place as said will be behind the bumper on the crashbar or crashbar mounts, which is where I originally had mine before I got slim ballasts:

If you want to remove the headlights then the bumper will need to come off but as said its not too big a job.

i've fitted them now, but i reckon there not icey white, i reckon they've got a yellow tinge to them, ever so slightly tho, is there a time period for them to bed in? or should they be ice white. 5k versions. oh and one of the warning signal controller boxers looked like it had already been use.

Exactly what Mazzer said.
Also I`ve noticed that no two bulbs from different manufacturers are the same colour, so 5K from say, hids4u will be slightly different to 5K from diane shop or where ever.

Xenon bulbs do "age" though. It takes at least 100 hours use for it to noticably start to move up the temperature scale. I have`nt noticed it on mine yet though.

The only time we see one is a fly-by every so often and my mate joked that they only have one and just keep it flying round the country!

I`m on sea kings atm, before that 10 years hawk.

I noticed a change on mine... hence why I changed them

They started off quite blue (6000k from Diane-shop), then after 13 months or so, they turned into 8000k.

I felt they were took blue so bought some 6000k bulbs from Hids-Direct and they look very white. Almost 5000k IMO.
