yes the belt is over due a change due to its age.

one thing to consider is replacing the water pump at the same time, most people on this forum do this.
Why? the water pump can fail and its a belt off job to replace it so the extra for the water pump while the belts off is fairly cost efficient.

You will get varying quotes as some dealers will charge for two jobs.. ie cambelt change and water pump change which sperately will have alot of labour.
While others will be intelligent enough to know that they can be done at the same time.

So how much.. mm.. well most dealers will ask £200 - £300 for th service.. and similair for the cambelt change. Although doing them at the same time would be cheaper. At a guess id say £550 for a dealer is considered a good quote.

Why not go independant. Dealers are actually quite clueless. Some i know for a fact go on forums such as SCN to get help!
Im sure a few people will come along soon with actual accurate quotes..

Where abouts are you, we could recommend a garage.

if you're confident to have a bash yourself, you're looking at 120 all in,

belt, pump, tensioners, coolant etc,

did mine about 8 month back ;)

hi mate,

i would recommend swift motor engineering in westerhope, ive just had my audi tt and my seat altea done there. got the cambelt etc done and waterpump etc. barry the owner is a good bloke and a ex-audi guy. they are vw/audi/seat trained etc and have the laest gear. cannot remember the exact cost, but the parts were the same as you can get them from on here and i think it was 3 hours labour, but not sure, so about 280 maybe. give him a ring and say chris with the tt told you to call!

I've just changed the water pump (and cambelt) on my '04 Leon Cupra due to a water pump failure at 56k miles.

I got quoted £240 all in at an independent garage and £310 at a Seat dealer. I needed the car to go to Silverstone a few days after it happened though and nobody could fit it in before hand. In the end I bought the parts - cambelt kit, replacement stretch bolts and water pump - off the shelf at Seat for £140 and did the job myself. It took two of us 3.5 hours and I wouldn't say it was a whole lot of fun.

You've probably had this done now, but I'm due to be getting the cambelt changed on my 05 Leon any day soon, though car has only done 30K!

Was quoted £300 by Seat dealer or £450 for cambelt and 5 yr service -which I think is oil and filter only?

or been quoted £450 by an independant specialist garage to do cambelt, service and water pump

Can't decide where to get it done, any opinions?
Now car is out of warranty 5 years old does it matter taking it to Seat? Has full Seat dealer history so far. Is there any advantage of taking it to Seat dealer? i.e do they have any further re-call info.updates?

Also having probs (car hesitates when accelerating) after re-map done last week even though switched back to stock, Seat dealer said they'd diagnose it for free at time of service, cambelt.

Thanks, yes asked AMD they seem quite good, but unfortunately no where Essex.

Anywhere around midlands, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and surrounding would be ok for me.
