Just now I have 16 inch alloys wit 205/45/16 tyres. What size tyres would I need if I was to get 17 inch alloys (7 inch wide) so i keep the overall diameter the same and not throw off the speedo.
205/45/17 was fine no speedo error or rubbing but left the rim exposed and had to be extremmly careful of getting up and down kerbs
also i had 215/40/17 al fine again less exposed
then had some 225/50/16s i think and rubbed like hell
I had 225/45/17 and they were rubbing like hell. So I went and got 205/40/17 and apart from exposing the wheel to the curb, they are just perfect. I might get 215/40/17 now
Thanks. So 205/40/17 seems to be the shout. Also whatever alloys I get I want to do them white but they will have to match the white of the car. What's my best option for getting this?
I know it will vary from place to place but do you know a rough price for powdercoating 4 alloys? And will it matter if I do white on top of black, it won't show through or anything?
I recommend Carrick Engineering in Prestwick. Not sure how much they charge these days. A few years ago it was £40/wheel but they're good.
P.S. here's a link to possibly the most basic website in the world Carrick Engineering
P.S. If you get powdercoated wheels they have a selected colour chart to choose from so the colour might not match exactly your paintcode, but considering yours is white it shouldn't be too hard!
