wow.

What did you use to clean it?
and for the dremel work, how did you proceed? how much of metal did you get of and on much places?

As above, the hardest part was removal of the bits, as most of it sits between the engine and the "firewall/cabin" so access space is limited. The job isn't too hard, just time consuming.

Once the manifold and EGR were off I soaked them overnight in a decent degreaser/engine cleaner to help remove some of the "gunk" and then attacked it with paint brushes and old tooth brushes till fairly clean.

With the dremel I ended up opening the holes to match the gasket (on the engine side) and just took a bit off on the EGR side. I did have quite a big pile of aluminium shavings at the end of it.

search google for "porting and polishing tips", just remember, rather take off too little than too much.

What I should have done is a " How To Guide"

and if anyones interested, my original Cupra manifold and an EGR are in the "Accessories for Sale" section.

Means you can prepare them before hand then all you've got to worry about is the swap when the time comes,

Then sell em on again like I'm doing ;)

The plan is to do them after work today, weather dependent

Edit

These are ARB bushes and drop-links

I'm not sure myself but if you do change the bushes you will have to re-balance the car else your tyres will run flat in no time

Those bushes, they look like the ARB bushes? Or are they the wishbone bushes?

If they're ARB bushes then you need to get the ARB off, however you won't need to get the tracking checked.

Yes they're ARB bushes and drop-links. Why would I need to get the ARB off?

I've changed them on a MK4 golf, that was easy, was just wondering if access to them on the Ibiza without dropping the subframe was possible?
Anyone changed theirs themself?

I stand corrected, I thought they were wishbone ones :)

Well I changed the entire ARB on mine and did the bushes at the same time, so yes I dropped the subframe. Hint - the ARB comes out easier on the right hand side (UK driver's side) if you do end up taking the ARB off.

You can change the bushes without taking the ARB off as long as you can physically reach them, it'll be tight, but I reckon you can probably reach them.

Didn't get a chance to do em but had a quick look under, appears there is sufficient access, and looks easy, appears to be 2 bolts holding the bracket on, job done, and I'll fit the new drop links while I'm there, hopefully my little knock in the front will be gone.

All comments appreciated, I'll post up how I get on.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on changing the bushes without dropping the subframe and removing the ARB, so if you could keep us posted with any tips or pointers that would be great, also any ideas on the price difference between the powerflex / OEM bushes?

I'll defo post up my findings. It's on the cards for tomorrow evening.

Regarding prices, the poly ones cost approximately £30 shipped verses just a few pound for OEM Ones

This all done on my iPhone, so excuse the quality and any typos

It wasn't hard to do, just access to the bolts isn't ideal, but all done and dusted, next job is to tackle the back.
