You will only get an airbag light if you have the airbag disconnected while the battery is connected.
Make sure you dis-connect the battery before you do anything to the airbag and only re-connect it when the airbag is correctly plugged in and safely back on the steering wheel!

But it isn't a good idea to play with the electrics with the battery connected anyway! - especially in such a critical system!
if it is a standard head unit then yes
when you do this make sure you disconnect the battery and leave it to de-charge for about half hour you don't wanna risk it going off
some say its not necessary but you really wanna risk it???

As u said mate you don't wanna risk it there powerfull things
It can take upto half an hour of faffing about before you disconnect the airbag anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it
