Hello Mk 3 owners...

I'm bidding on some brembo 4 pot calipers for an E38 7 series. will these fit my Mk3 if i get the carriers for the ibiza?

I assume the calipers are all the same it's just the carriers that are different for each car?

calipers are not the same fella
if you get the wrong ones, you may struggle to find brackets to fit
does the seller say what car they came off?

They came from the BMW E38 7 series... whats different about them? do you think this will be a task to fit?

everything is possible. just have to find someone to make the correct adapters and then discs accordingly.

You also need to consider the size of the caliper piston compared to the master cylinder. If the Brembos you are looking at have significantly larger piston volume it will mean that you'll need to push the brake pedal further to achieve the same braking effect, leading to a loss of feel.

You will also potentially be restricted in terms of what pads you can get, and you may have to have custom discs made depending upon the thickness of the standard 7 series discs.

Someone Audisport.net has just been through a load of hassle with some 'cheap' Brembos he got which came off an Alfa which Bill helped him out with working out exactly what he had bought and what pads fitted.

As Mr D says, anything is possible, however you could end up spending a fortune in the long run.

Thanks for you input mate, i bought them cheap so i'll give it a go and ill send some measurements to a few friends and see if they can manufacture some brackets.

If it ends up being too much drama, i'll just put them up for sale and get a fresh kit... i believe for the Mk3 it's something in the region of £740 ?

When i did porsche calipers on my old Cupra, i got an old complete front hub from the breakers and sent this with the caliper and disc to a company for them to make the correct bracket and bell for the disc (two piece type disc). Pretty simple for a decent brake company to knock up correct bracket then. I used BG Developments, brackets were about £150, bells similar price too.

jeez... good luck with those.
no idea on these..

I get a lot of calls from folks who have bought a "bargain" off egay,piston-heads,E38 etc only to find brackets are unavailable (radial mount you want) and pad swept area does not match their disks either.

be careful dude.
