Had a search but couldn't find an exact answer.

Recently bought a 2008 Ibiza Formula sport off a nissan main dealership. Taking it back tomorrow for them to sort out a few issues. No rear wiper (broken when I bought it), doesn't appear to have had a service as I've had to top up both my coolant and oil, service inspection indicator has come on as well.

Checked my MOT history for it and it came back with:
"Reason(s) for refusal to issue Certificate
Both Headlamp aim too high (1.8)
Both Registration plate missing (6.3.1a) (personal plates)
Front brakes imbalanced (3.7.A.2d)
Advisory Notice issued
Both Front brake juddering slightly (3.7.A.2b)
Both Rear brake juddering slightly (3.7.A.5b)
All brake discs badly corroded.
Front tyres worn low on edges.
N/s/f tyre damaged on side wall"

I asked before buying to change the front tyres as they were low, they refused but now I've found the damage on the sidewall, I've counted at least 6 chunks taken out of the tyre which for me warrants it to be replaced. I'm also not happy that my brakes are corroded (common problem), is this covered under warranty? If not how much are replacement discs and pads?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

does'nt sound to good, has it been abused by its previous owner? the brakes will defo not be covered under warranty as they are a wear and tear item. It should only be the rear disks that are corroded (that a common problem), i got mine done last year and it cost me about £100 for new disks and pads

Thanks!!
Looked on euro car parts and for all four with pads was £165 for Pagid (any good?).

Not impressed that they sold me a car in that shape. Surely that tyre had to be illegal with that many chunks taken out of the sidewall??

From what I can understand from the previous owner (mainly by their private number plate) its a woman born in 1966, extremely poor at parking due to the kerbing and possibly heavy on the brakes.

New front tyres Bridgestone's are £114.40 per tyre.

Tempted to reject the car and get my money back if not fixed.

How long have you had the car? i bought mine from a main dealer and they made it clear it would have a 3 month warrenty that would only cover the engine and gearbox. i agree with rf860 about wear and tear but surly its quite obvious it isnt from you and should of been sorted before it was sold, id go and have a word with them and see what they say, worst they can do is send you away.

tbh though, it is your responsibilty to check the condition of the car, cos they are definately not going to point problems out for you....

Under 3 weeks and from the second day I have been complaining about the rear wiper and refrubed alloy. Must have called them a dozen times.

Looked on trading standards and i have rights if not satisfied.

Exactly, these problems should have been sorted before I collected the car. After all this is a Nissan and Renault main dealer.

I didn't choose to trade in a 10 year old Ibiza to have not even a 3 year old car that would initially cost me over £420 (coolant, oil, discs and pads and tyres) in the first month!

i would expect alot more from a main dealer. that said you shouldnt have handed over the cash until you had the jobs you required completed. as long as its road legal that is. chunks out the sidewall i think is somewhat not roadworthy. I would suggest talking to seat customer services about the sale.

weve owned an ibiza from new (54 plate) ive never had to top the coolant and only need to top up the oil at about 6k from any service (10k services) front discs are still original (had to change front pads once at 60k) rear pads and discs need changing for next MOT due.

To me it sounds like the issue with the brakes is that they've corroded badly as the car (for whatever reason, maybe not to do with the car, but the owner) has spent some time off the road. I knew when I bought my Ibiza (2 elderly lady previous owners!) it had recently spent quite a while parked up, as the front discs were both very corroded. This could cause a brake imbalance which would be recorded on a rolling road at an MOT station.

To be honest, if that's the case with yours, it's unlikely warranty will cover it.

The fact the headlamps aimed high, tyres have a few chunks missing, it can easily happen, perhaps parking wasn't the previous owner's greatest attribute.

If however they agreed to service it prior to purchase, and they haven't, then they should carry this out as agreed.

It was judgement day today at the dealership.

They're truly useless and would never deal with them again.

However they have changed the tyres, correctly painted the alloy so I finally have matching alloys. About the service they told me "We've been billed for the work however they never actually did it" I can't believe that tbh. They just forgot.

Spoke to my local garage and he said the rear discs are fine.

The rear wiper arm has been fitted however its part way up the window so I'm going to sort that myself tomorrow!

it's a common problem for the rear disks to corrode on this model, the design must be not very good or something. The engine is'nt powerful enough to warrant having all round disk brakes anyway

The tyre they put on is a Infinity which on research is a budget tyre (whats the point in budget tyres they don't last. On my last Ibiza N/S/R tyre lasted less than 12months) So I think I'm going to rotate the tyres.

Do i need to do balancing and tracking again or will it be a simply switch?

Shouldn't need re-balancing or tracking again but make sure if the tyre is rotating in the correct direction shown by the arrow on the sidewall ie, dont swap from side to side, only front to rear.
