Hi all, Ibiza tdi pd130, 114k original flywheel and clutch.

Schoolboy error today, reversed onto a main road, needed to get moving pretty quick... Stuck it in gear and floored it. Only problem was, i was in 3rd not 1st!! :fool:

Since that (and a lot of burnt clutch smell) i have noticed the following symptoms..

Slight rattling when going through the biting point
Rattling at certain revs when under load.

It has always juddered a bit at idle but nothing more since "the balls up"!

Gut feeling is flywheel, but anything anyone can add will be really useful, just spent a lot on the old girl (full fr suspension, discs pads all round, full service, wishbone bushes, ball joints, track rods etc etc!!) so clearly dont want to bit spending much more!

Also, any guide on price for a new DMF? and easy fit DIY? bear in mind i did all of the above so not a complete spanner!

cheers

not sure on the fly wheel mate

clutch depends on whether or not you want to pay for another standard clutch or an uprated clutch (which cost more)

However dont think you will need an uprated clutch as the pd130 remapped goes up to around 175bhp normally - uprated clutch is normally needed for around 200bhp (cupra tdi remapped for example) as the torque out put kills clutchs (mainly when flooring it below 2,000 rpm)

from experience your be looking around 300 - 400 at a garage for a standard clutch

uprated clutch + flywheel + labour is from what i have been told around £1000 - 1200

That sucks, has no idea one mistake like that could cost you a new clutch and flywheel

Although clutchs do tend to go around this mark, depends on how the car is driven though

hope this helps :)

My pd130 on 115,000mile (original clutch and DMF) remapped 5,000 miles ago.

Clutch slip and flywheel noise.

Goes in tomorrow for:

New DMF £300
Helix organic clutch kit £600
Fitting £120 (friend of a friend)

total : £1,020.

From the sounds of it,if its still on the original clutch and flywheel it will need done.

Ok cheers so far, really useful. got a quote from my local indie who did my cambelt last week (yes its going to be an expensive month!) and he quoted £550 for flywheel and clutch inc fitting and VAT. All standard bits, but remap not looknig likely now, and wont want more than 180bhp anyway.

what fr suspemsion have you fitted? i only ask as fr and tdi 130 setups are the same unless you meant cupra.

i'd drive it for a while longer and see what comes of it - you might have just sewn the seed of doubt in your own head and those noises might have already been there.

well it was apparently off an FR!! and its defo different, springs about 2 inches shorter all round (but stiffer). maybe off a later model or something? sure it isnt cupra though as no real ride highet difference, just stiffer.
only got it as mine was shagged and it was the first lot that came up!

Well to be fair i didnt think anything of it at the time, i though worst case i'd taken a few miles off the clutch... but didnt feel right. it isnt really bad so going to see how it goes.

What you reckon to DIY job MJ? IE axle stands on a drive, reasonable mech knowledge. any special tools etc?

For the relatively small labour charge for what can be a right ball ache of a job i'd just pay someone to do it mate. the large bill comes from the flywheel - £300ish!?!
