Thanks guys original service sticker has AUQ inside front cover also found same sticker in spare tire well but have double checked has APX on left side front of block,Got lots of paperwork with car but none to indicate engine change.Planning remap in near future will they be able to tell just from power output and will this have any real effect as to witch map to be installed

AMK & BAM are LCR engines, APX was one of the early Audi TT 225 engines, from around 1999 - 2002. I am assuming that you have an APX bottom end? This would indicate that the car has had a swap but I'm guessing that you have an AUQ head fitted, unless someone has put all the K04 parts on to yours? We'd need to see a picture of your engine bay to clarify.

Putting an APX bottom end on won't make any difference, if anything you'll have stronger conrods in there & forged pistons like the AMK/BAM/APY (early S3) but I can't be sure.

Almost right, it links to your album rather than the image but it's cool, I've seen what I needed to. You definitely still have all the 180bhp Cupra parts on there (x1 SMIC, inlet manifold throttle body on the drivers side, secondary air system etc etc) so that would comfirm that you have an AUQ head & k03/K03s turbo on what would seem to be an APX bottom end. Personally if everything is working, running fine and no fault codes are coming up then I wouldn't worry, if anything you now have stronger pistons (would need to confirm this first) and from what I know you have 20mm rods which give you a little more scope before engine destruction after hard tuning :).

It looks more to me like its the head thats been changed as the picture of the stamp is on the head not the block. (can see the clip for the cam cover on the bottom left) But as has been said the rest off the engine looks like an AUQ i.e. charge pipe, inlet etc:shrug:

Well you won't have more power because if this, for that you would need the whole APX engine, turbo & ECU to get the 225ps that the Audi TT came with but what you have in essence is a stronger engine 180bhp with less probability of piston or conrod failure. Depending on whether the pistons are forged like the AMK/BAM in the LCR, this will save a you a bill if you ever went for a big turbo as you wouldn't need to replace them however, the conrods would need replacing still as they are still too weak for that kind of power.

All the tuning parts you will need to order will be the same as any normal 180bhp Cupra with full AUQ engine and judging by you first post, your car is a 2002 model so you will have a k03s, expect 225 - 235bhp at stage 2 tune. Don't order any tuning parts for the LCR as these WON'T fit however, if you ever go for a big turbo then you will need to order 20mm conrods by the looks of it, that should be the only difference in tuning this engine compared to a normal AUQ Cupra. As for diagnostics, running it as an AUQ engine should be fine as all the parts are still the same...sensors, exhaust, turbo etc.

Ahh ok so it's an APX head, not bottom end? (Can't see pic clearly, blurred version on mobile phone) In that case then no difference at all, the parts will all swap over, they're both small port heads as far as I know. The APX came with mechanical VVT so I assume that the AUQ did too, hence it's all working?

If the above is the case then you don't have a stronger bottom end, just a replacement head for some reason but again, nothing to worry about.

It wont have 20mm wrist pins if its still the AUQ block though. Really you need to find out which block is in there to match the APX head thats on then you'll know exactly what your dealing with
