Not sure if there is already a thread but thought it's worth giving info to all. VW are calling this a 'Product Enhamncement' as opposed to a Recall. But it is defo a recall!

I'm sure everyone has heard a lot about this and theres a lot of hit and miss info on it. So I have looked into it and have the info:

The coilpack recall is a VAG camapign with recalls of nearly all FSI/TFSI/MPI engines

Recall 28F5-W-Ignition Coil This is what it comes under in their systems

1.8 T-6.0 MPI

For the 2.0 TFSI the affected engine codes:

AXX-BGB-BHZ-BPG-BPJ-BUL-BWA-BWE-BWT-BYK-BYD

Ignition coils with part number- 07K 905 715F, 07K 905 715D, 06H 905 115, 06F 905 115F do not need replacing as they are not affected if your ignition coil isnt one of the above part numbers they will be replaced with the revised part 07K 905 715F
hope this helps and you can check your car to see if you can have some free coils :D

Seems to apply to all the above engine codes up to Early MY07 models

It also seems to be dependant on which dealer you ring!

Thats going to be an AUQ or similar - The 1.8 20vT engine rather than the 20 16v TFSi.

I walked into my dealer and they were not aware of a recall. They put my BWJ 2007 plate in their computer but it was not due a replacement, however i did have some coilpacks installed that i knew were on the list for replacement and i explained of a misfire. They proceeded to diagnose that i did have a misfire and they wanted to charge me £50 for the diagnosis and something in the region of £246 for new coilpacks and installation as i am no longer in warranty. Needless to say i walked out! They said it was not a recall/necessity just an advisory precaution...or something along that line!

On the basis of the ignition coils being £35 each you'd be on £106 for labour! Wow, I am in the wrong job! £106 for 4 mins work is impressive!

Has anyone checked this out? A VW recall does not mean a SEAT recall...

The plot thickens!! So very true that albeit the EXACT same engine's/parts etc, just because VW have recalled them, does not mean Seat have to. Found that out earlier lol

And this is exactly the kind of response i'd expect from them considering how things are with my dealer. Am starting to see the trend lol

My wife's Fr petrol had its 5 year service including cambelt this past week and thought it was interesting that they replaced the ignition coils under a recall FOC.

So clearly Seat are now doing this as par for the course.

A couple of the coilpacks were replaced under what the local Seat described as a recall. The other two weren't because these were replaced practically the day after I got the car as they shorted out due to water 9yes water) in the engine. I and the AA chap thought they had probably pressure washed the engine, hence the water.

Apart from that, what bothered me was they didn't contact me re. the recall, it wasn't until I went in for my MOT they mentioned it... and yet they kindly texted me to tell me they're open as usual over the Jubilee weekend. I know which one is more important!

I had the coil packs checked on my 2007 Cupra at service. Turns out mine were the parts not affected but the dealers would have replaced them FOC if it was necessary.
