1.4tdi owners - max miles you've had from a tank?

being getting 500 miles from per tank , at 137.9p litre works out at 55mpg. costs me £57 to fill up. whats everyone else getting? can i achieve more ? bearing in mind im not light with my right foot at all! so 55mpg is quite impresive concidering i do 25 miles a day , 80-90 mph on a private track for 10 miles a day and 65-70 for the other 15. cant seem to get more than 500 per tank even when i do drive slower the reserve seems to go on forever once the light comes on...

ive seen on other forums that staying in 4th untill 55mph that ill get more mpg

im getting about the same out of a Leon 1.9tdi, so would imagine better figures from ibiza 1.4tdi should be possible

do u have 6th? is this why ive seen some threads of the 1.9tdi being great on mpg?

no mate just a 5speed 105 bhp version, 95% of my 20mile each way commute is dual carriageway which obviously helps. i use cruise control a lot once i'm up to 70mph (or thereabouts ) which i've read can make a lot of difference,

The only thing that lowers my mpg on the 1.9 tdi is booting it around town. Everything else seems negligible. DERVs are funny like that.

EDIT: Oh, it seems that I get better mileage if I keep cruising RPM to 1500 around town. Seem to be getting worse MPG if I drive lower that that.

105BHP version? didnt know there was one in the mk4 1.4tdi thought it ranged from 70-80BHP I have got a stage one remap on mine to just over 110bhp,

I am a big bloke and I drive alot of zooming around town and "national" speed limit roads, I always do 500milesish to a tank little bit less cause of the town driving,

Also with all the extras I have got I have ruined its eco-ness still I dont mind the £30 a year tax bill,

Apparently you can get 75mpg out of them but I think that it is total.......
