I use shell but only because around here its virtually the same price as the supermarkets, its either the same or 1p per litre more, for some reason bp is a lot more expensive than both!

Well ive had my Mk1 FR TDi for over 6 yrs & nearly at 61k & i cant tell much difference with any Fuel, Infact had a couple of full tanks of Tesco Diesel early in the yr one after the other & it was getting mid 50's mpg easily. Did add the odd shot of Millers aswell mind.
But atm i fill it up around 630-660 miles thats from brim full 60litres in ni enuff everytime.
Overal ave is 49.5mpg.
It drives the same with any brand of fuel.

Only use Millers every few tank fulls just to keep things in check.

Let in warm up be4 driving with much speed & tick over a bit be4 stopping.

When its done 120k i'll let you know then !!!

The local filling station I usually use has gone from Esso to being a Harvest station. I'd not heard of Harvest before: their website claims that

"Harvest Energy the UK's largest independent blender and supplier of road fuels and now aspires to be market leader in the forecourt branding of independent retailers."

Which sounds good; Any other posters have experience of Harvest fuel?

I used to use millers and Sainsburys diesel but don't use either now, Shell V-Power every time regardless of extra cost. I filled up today and it was 149.9 a litre, I don't even look to see what the other fuel costs because I already know I'm paying more, but I get more miles to the gallon so although the upfront cost is greater I don't think it makes too much difference.

You need to be getting an extra 4 to the gallon at least to make v power balance the books. Mine runs no different on v power compaired to normal shell but put a supermarket fuel in and its like an old tractor. tesco seems to be the worst of them all in mine.

In my local area shell is cheaper than all the supermarkets! I think it's because it's a pretty big station though (about 16 pumps) so they are going through a lot!

some may say lala land....
have used both over time, 'supermarket' & 'premium' and always with a dose of millers after reading about it on here
never noticed a drop in performance or mpg in using tesco over anything else, done 70k on it and always been fine

me, happy to keep using tesco and millers on every trip, consistent 550-600 a tank from light to fill.

MJ, you say manufacturers can refuse warranty on bad fuel, how would they know? does tesco leave a stain or trace ala red diesel? if not how would you know when you serviced a car? curious more than anything

SEAT refuse warranty (or at least used to) on Morissons fuel because the biofuel content is too high. They had notices in the dealership service department.

I limped around with a spluttering engine for 3 weeks after filling up at Tesco, I've never used Tesco since - never had a problem since.

well ive been sad enough to record my fuel usage manually since the turn of the year in an effort to see if theres a differance in mpg, in terms to driveability since the car is mapped, i dont care what anybody says, the times that ive used Vpower, BP ultimate or added millers theres a definate boost in throttle response and less smoke.
