its interesting you should say that, because my dad 210bhp at flywheel prelude was matched by a a4 2.0tdi with 170bhp avant!!! no idea if mapped though, and yes he was in vtec and it was me and him... that was from 20-120 we pulled away abit after 100 but not by much, so surely a 180bhp ibiza weighing about the same as a clioo 197 should be not far off..

No, it won't be far off, but the Clio will be faster

Put it this way, i can hammer clio 172/182's all day long, and keep up with a new shapre type-r, but i dont have the power figures on mine.

/watch?v=GKtswUgvhdU clio 182 vs standard cupra tdi, and the cupra is slower than remapped 130, power is good but only when combined with high torque, which type r's and clios dont have, ps the 182 is quicker than the 197 lol

Go to Wikipedia, read up on how power and torque works, then come back.
And a standard cupra isn't slower than a mapped 130. It delivers it's power differently, but it's not slower

I have an FR TDI that's already been remapped to lots of powerz. I want more power to razz off the 1.2 Fox that lives close by. Every morning he is quicker away from the lights outside the cop shop and I can't stand the embarrassment any longer. I thought it was to do with the phasing of the lights changing giving me less time to stoke my pipe with Golden Virginia, but I've switched to cherutes and I've got time left over before they turn to green.

I've folded my back seats down and he's still winning. The internets told me if I put a hairdryer set to cold in my engine bay pointing at the air box, it'd act like a supercharger and give more boost.

What d'yall think? I saw a Daewoo Kalos beat the Fox at the next set of lights today, so I need at least the same power as that.

I reckon you need to upgrade your flux capacitor to get some real power :D

i have spent the last 3 years doing a motor vechicle course and am currently an apprentice at bentley motors, so i know about torque and power lol, i think i understand how it works, hense why a lcr is faster than a type r despite having very similar power to weight ratio's. besides power is worked out based on torque and rpm. please tell me how 2 car weighing the same but one has 20bhp more and 30lb-ft of torque more would be the same performance wise... im not sure i follow your logic...

My logic is pretty simple. Your remapped 130 doesn't have 20bhp more than a Clio 197. And it doesn't matter if you have 100lb ft more torque, unless you catch them off guard. More power, with the correct gearing is faster.

And your example with a type r and lcr is nonsense. Since when did a standard lcr become the same power to weight as a civic, or be faster?

Vroomtshh is correct, there isn't much logic coming from there. The torque is fantastic for everyday driving, but the delivery is so much different with a petrol, if they're ready and in the correct gear, it's harder!

lol my comment about 20bhp more was about the curpa tdi, also civic type r has 197bhp and 1267kg and the lcr has 225bhp and is 1376kg which means the ctr has 155.5bhp/tonne and the lcr has 160bhp/tonne, very similar but the more torquey lcr is much faster.

No, the more powerful lcr is faster. But not by so much that it's out this world
