Altea XL rear sunblinds???

Hi,

Sorry to be so dumb but I picked up my Altea XL 2.0tdi stylance (2007/56) yesterday and one thing (so far) is confusing me!! The spec list says it has integrated sun blinds on the rear side windows, but I don't see any!

Am I blind? Is it a mistake on the spec list? Or were they a removable item which has been lost/kept by the previous owner?

I had a 57 plate which was the first year to get them fitted. Mine was a 08 model year factory order, if I had got one from stock then it wouldn't have had them fitted.

My guess would be that the dealer messed up the spec list, not unheard of, the Ford dealer listed my Kuga as having Bluetooth but it didn't

Thanks for your reply. Stupid dealers! I'm guessing this is the same for the door mirrors too then, as they don't fold in (although the symbol is there at the back of the mirror adjustment knob, so I thought that would mean it had that feature. Oh well.

Anyone know where I can get hold of an equipment list for a 2007/56 plate XL? Parkers only seem to have info on the Altea from 2007/07 on.

Not sure about the mirrors but I would assume that if it had the symbol then it should have the feature. Have you tried keeping the lock button on the remote pressed for 5 seconds when locking it? This may fold them in, it did on mine.

Nope, that didn't work, and on closer inspection it doesn't look like they even fold in manually!!

PS. If I'm being an idiot I blame the fact I have an 11 week old baby and my mind isn't what it was!!

Ok, turns out I was being an idiot, well partially anyway!

If the knob is in the L or R position, then holding the lock button down does work. If the knob is in the 'fold mirrors' position, nothing happens. Maybe if the engine is running it would do something (although I think I tried that last night with no joy) but I'm not too bothered about being able to fold my mirrors on the move anyway!

Electric mirrors

When the engine is running, but the car isn't moving you can turn the knob to the mirror fold back position and the mirrors will fold. Alternatively, as you know already, hold the lock button down, the mirrors will fold in and the windows will wind up. Works in reverse too, hold the unlock button down, the windows will wind down and the mirrors will unfold.

The mirrors unfold when you put you turn the key in the ignition

Yer I think the car needs to be sitting still for the mirrors to fold in. May be wrong.

There could be two folding options;
One the control knob can fold the mirrors
Two if you have the computer type screen then it is possable to have the mirrors sett so if you ho;d the lock button for 3-5 secs then they fold away

I had the same issue with the mirrors not folding.

They are now working.

As stated before ensure you hold the lock button down for more than 5 seconds. It think also only works if you are in close proximity of the vehicle too.

I have the mirror knob set in central position, ie NOT left OR right.

Have a another go.
