Alarm/Drivers door problems

Hi, had a quick search but nothing i could find really pin pointed the problem i am having.

First of all my alarm goes off totally randomly but dosent make a noise, just the hazards flashing. it does this all the time and i cant find a way to stop it going off i have tried everything.

Secondly, the computer says that my drivers side door is open even when it isnt, which means that i cant lock the car with the fob.

Thirdly, My bluetooth system has completly stopped working all together and wont recognise any phones whats so ever.

Anyone had any similar problems with there leon, mine is a 56 plate 2.0 tdi reference.

Thanks alot for any replies to this post, they are greatly appreciated.

Kane.

Sounds like a faulty door switch that is potentially causing both the alarm and locking problems. I seem to remember someone else on here having a similar problem.

Bluetooth is a separate unit it is hard to check if it is actually working may be a new bluetooth module. Hopefully someone with a tad more knowledge may be able to give a more detailed answer.

I reckon you have 3 seperate issues.
1-alarm going off for no reason and the drivers door showing open when shut will be the drivers door control unit.( a common problem)It has a internal fault.
2-the siren will be faulty(located behind drivers wheel arch liner)
3-try disconecting the bluetooth control unit(under drivers seat) and reconecting it,this can work sometimes otherwise the control unit itself is the most common problem.
if you want all this confirming i would recomend a diag check,i would say at a dealer as they should be familiar with your issues and how to confirm the causes but if they are competant and know what they are looking at i suppose a specialist could advise you also.
hope this helps ,cheers

First all thanks for all the replies, my iPod connection is under the seat where abouts will the Bluetooth switch be? In terms of cost what do you think the door sensor will set me back, thanks.

Bluetooth module is under the driver's seat, sensor should only be a couple of pounds if it is the control unit that is nearer £20-30.

This sounds like exactly the same problem as I had with my 56 plate 2.0tdi Reference Sport.

A couple of trips to the dealer later and it was fixed. The 1st time was diagnosis and the 2nd for the fix.

It turned out to be a faulty door sensor in my case.

I,m affaraid the prices quoted above are a little optamistic,The door control unit is £200+vat and the bluetooth control unit is £350+vat
Thats why i would strongly reccomend you get it acurately diagnosed before you spend your money.
cheers

Fortunately I got mine fixed under warrantly but Fusster's £200+VAT sounds similar to what the dealer told me it would cost for the Door Control Unit if I was paying.

My alarm has also been going off randomly and I noticed that the rear passenger window would not work from the driver door switch but worked on the actual door switch. Faulty driver door control module was diagnosed and luckily it happenened on the day before my warranty ran out. Going back in next week to get fixed as they did not have the part in stock. Fuse 17 on the RHS of dash can be removed to stop the alarm noise but hazards will still flash.

There are actually a number of issues with the door control units with the alarm going off and the nsr window not working from osf door switch amonst others. The bluetooth has issues with some models of phone there is a list around.

Yeah i have seen the List with dodgy models on but my phone was working before and just suddenly stopped. Inwas thinkin to get the part from the scrappy but is it an easy part to take off? Is there anyway to totally disable the alarm at all?

Definatley sounds like door control units. It's recommended to replace both drivers and passenger unit as if you only replace one it can confuse the other and cause more issues than before. Hope this helps.

i had the exact same alarm/door problems.

i took the car to the dealer

first time they changed to door lock...didnt works

second they changed the wiring loom in the door....didnt work

third time they blames a damp canbus unit under the dash, "fixed" this problem, but still didnt work.

eventually the fault was found to be a fault door module in the drivers door, since this was replaced i've had no issues

Don't think there is any easy way to stop the alarm going off. The only problem you will have with getting door control units from the scrapyard is the hardware inside. Faulty door control units usually are running hardware 07. The new units are running hw10. There are also a few different units, ie, 4 electric windows, fold in mirrors, etc.Hence the recommendation of replacing both units. They are not cheap (usually a £700+ repair).

That's gonna cost me An arm and a leg. Just gonna have to put up with it I think, the alarm is the main issue though I dread the day I wake up and the battery is dead :(. What does the blur tooth control bit look like I had a quick look but couldn't find anything, only a silver thing with what looked like a thin yellow colored usb dongle stickin out of it.

If your under the drivers seat then you have found it,thats the bluetooth control unit and the dongle thingy is the ariel.

I see, do i just pull out the ariel to reset the bluetooth? Another thing i have found with the ipod connection is that only a few ipods work. My old video 60gb worked perfect but unfortunatly somebody stole it from my things in the gym. Since then i have been activley looking for a replacement. I have tried two different generation nanos. The newer of the two just scans through all of the tracks and dosent ply anything, and the other one played3 seconds of a song and then stopped working with the error message on the ipod screen saying "device is incompatable for plugin used" or something along those lines. Anybody know of any lists that are knocking around with devices that actually work?

Have you tried updating the software on the Ipod that may work.

There a fuse that is just for one of the horns. So if your horn work form the steering wheel (but sounds different), but not the alarm it's probably this.

Yh mine does exactly the same thing! Had it all checked out but can't afford to pay for the control unit at this moment in time! I have been double locking my car (pressing the lock button twice on my key) this seems to disable the dead lock. Had no issues for two weeks until tonight! Hazards randomly came on at about 8pm
