I can totally understand the will and want to tune a basic car to 300BHp. But surely if you have saved and saved maybe start from a better base say 2 litre TDi if you need to stick with a Leon.

I think what everyone is asking is what is your rationale and why is it your only option? Whatever the changes you do do with the engine you are going to need new brakes as well otherwise you will feel like a 3 year old going down a big hill on a Power Ranger's Trike with no brakes

If you do go for it make sure you keep us all posted on how you get on, I am sure Buzz will then know how to get is little Buzz box going even faster :p

heard plenty of people say why bother tuning a cupra to 350-400, get an rs4, evo etc.everyone has sumat to say when you tune a car.

Because it's actually cheaper to get a Stage 2+ Cupra than it is to get a similar performance RS4 or Evo! The difference here is that taking a 1.9 TDi to 300bhp is in no way cheap or worth the money compared to what you could get while still remaining unique/ different. Just my opinion anyway! :p

i think its good you want to be different , but the reality is its not going to be a cost effective proposition , if you are after serious derv power then maybe swap to a 330d BMW?
in real worls terms i am sure there is someone on here running about 240 on a tdi engine and i would think thats as far as you would want to go with the engine.

is it just a amgial 300 figure you want to see or is it you want it to be on this car you have?

i know that on 123d bmw's they max out at around 270 and they are twin turbo , so i think you have a massive hill to climb.

Stylance obviously likes his car and wants it to be 300bhp which is fair enough! Its totally different and will be a sleeper! If someone wants to do something then let them do it! All the money i have spent on my car is stupid and makes no sense but its my hobby and i enjoy t and ts what i wanted so i done it!

Fair enough though if you just got a cupra and remapped it, it would be a much much better car lol then buy all the extra stuff and you have a monster lol

I think the 2.0 TDI can get to 300 bhp but your looking at customer software running bigger injectors, at least a hybrid turbo and pobably NOS and/or water-meth injection... good luck!

the power delivery of a 300bhp diesel on the stock turbo (even if it had been hybridised) would be shocking though...

1.9tdi 105 to 187 wanted 300 bhp :D

Just thought I'd update you all, I have been speaking to a vw tech guy who owns his own performance garage and for 4k he is guna get it to 300bhp the torque values will be amazing
But mid next year it'll be done so we'll have to arrange some meets.

Good luck with the work - I hope there is a good clutch included in the 4K!

I do wonder how long my stock one will last with the torque I have and mine isn't a diesel...

Nice way to blow 4k tell ya what give to me as an investment and grab a better return !! Seriously ya would be better selling the 1.9 tdi n getting a proper car with more scope to tune, I bet by the time ya done all the mods your insurance costs will go through the roof !!

both the 1.9 and 2.0 can Achieve 300bhp but its alot of money, especially with the 1.9 105bhp lump!!!! My advice would be to sell it and buy a 2.0 PD140 as a good basis. Dont buy the PD170

Devonboymikey has achieved it in the PD140 2.0 albeit with Propane and NOS

Tom. has now got a setup on his PD130 Ibiza that is capable of 300+bhp but its still being mapped

Start with the right car a cupra mk2
TheN Revo it, exhaust, fuel pump, bigger turbo, s3 intercooler or which ever you prefer, intake and that should get you some thing starting around 400+ :0)
that's what I'm doing to mine
A diff also may be a good option unless your not going to just use it for top end in higher gears rather than from standing starts or on track

Stage 2+ is anywhere between 330-370. 400 is optimistic mate.

Add injectors and a hybrid/big turbo and maybe meths and you'll be close.

EDIT - just read you did say bigger turbo. D'oh!

Nobody has mentioned your gearbox or driveshafts. They will not last 5 mins with that amount of torque. If your mate thinks he can get 300bhp from a 1.9 tdi for four grand, he is dreaming. Your going to need new brakes, new gearbox/diff, new wheels, new tyres, uprated suspension. Not to mention the colossal amount of work to do on the engine. Keep us updated on your mission impossible.

Agreed your looking at around 1k for the brakes your going to need + new hubs etc, Diff and Clutch etc are going to cost like 2k

or if he does it for the price quoted it qill be a death trap as i can't see it being safe even if he can get that power out of the engine for the quoted price
