Well I seem to have “misplaced” my locking wheel nut key. I changed my puncture and was in a little rush and I think I must have left the locker on the road :( I have been back and can’t find it.

I am going to call Seat tomorrow as I don’t have my VIN with me but is there an alternative to going to Seat for a key; do all LCR keys fit each other? Can I buy one elsewhere?

I did this once on one of my old cars, the garage removed the locking wheelnut from each wheel, think they drilled the end off or something.
I bought a set of new ones and the whole job cost about £50

Not sure how much seat will charge for a new wheelnut key!!!
Try a couple of garages to see if it's cheaper!

SEAT dont have a record for the wheel nut keys so you need to pop into a dealer (doesnt have to be SEAT, all group use the same nuts) get them to match one up with the workshop master set and they can order one in for you. Costs about 15quid iirc and comes with one new bolt.

Sorry. I ment to say that David would get you the key if you knew which one from the set it was. Sometimes you can be lucky and a lage spline key can get them off. Well it wored for me anyway! Also if any ofyour friends or family have bag cars try there locking keys!

My dealer wasn't so helpful. Had a similar problem myself a few months ago. When i called them up they said they couldn't help me since there were "100's of different types of keys". My local VW said the same. And TPS said they could only sell me key with bolts.

Luckily i found this site:

http://www.zakparts.com/shop/category_62/CLICK-HERE-for-VW-Audi-Locking-Bolt-Adapters.html?shop_param=cid%3D%26

Was able to look at my bolt and count the splines, then identify the correct key from their site. Delivery took a couple of days :D

They could help you, it would just mean you would have to get the car to them for them to match one up, they cant do much over the phone. All dealers hve masters sets, its part of our brand standards requirements to have them. Depends if the departments talk to one another.

get a locking wheel nut remover from halfords

I used that first, removed the first two bolts, then the thread got knackered, also very easy to damage the wheels.

Thats the thing, i actually had two bolts removed, and asked if i could bring one along to match up, and they wouldn't even do that :censored:
