Soot on the back (PD130)

Not sure if there is anything to worry about however one of my friends mentioned something. His turbo went and he also had the soot similar to what I have now on the back.

I'm just wondering if it's anything to worry about? It's just little blobs of soot on the back of the car.

He mentioned something about the map, under fuelling, over fuelling etc.

Also potentially the EGR? His pipe was split which I think caused the turbo to finally give in?

Anything to worry about, etc...? Advice? Thanks!

When you say little blobs that sounds to me to be oil, not soot.

Its normal to have soot on the rear end, especially if you like giving it some. Also depends on your map (If you have one).. Some chuck out more than others.

Mines is pretty bad for throwing out soot particles esp since mines is white. Don't think it's anything to worry about tbh..

Mine is sooty too. Wait til your kicking its arse and someone follows you to tell you bits of your turbo are exploding and coming out the exhaust

wouldnt worry at all....mine with my TBE milltek really kicks it out...

Get the same on mine and it doesnt really burn much oil. Theres the soot then some blobs which are more stubborn to come off

Tar remover doesn;t look at soot. I wouldn;t be keen to use clay or T cut TBH. Just wax the car, and it'll wash off easily enough

Tar remover works fine on mine, (doesnt really need it though)
If it removes tar which is a solid and pretty hard to get off surely it will remive soot.
A clay bar is designed to lift stuff like tar, bug residue and tree sap so cant see why you wouldnt used it on soot either. Just keep changing to a clean side

A fine clay wont do any damage to the paintwork, unless you're really daft with it and start rubbing it all over the car with grit embedded in it.

my car is waxed and i use a little bit of t-cut to take off small hard to get off bits of tar...soot usually just wipes off
