Random Cutting Out?!?

Hoping a little advice can be offered?!?

My Ibiza has recently started to cut out randomly?!?

Symptoms...
1 - Rev counter drops to zero, bounces between 1 - 2 revs?
2 - Oil light flashes?
3 - Once stopped will kick in again when ignition is turned?!
4 - Usually happens after 5 / 10 mins of driving (at any speed)

Ideas welcome :)

Sounds like it could be your crankshaft sensor or your module, or your coil breaking down.
i Hope this helps I had the same thing happen to me on a old nova sr many moons ago, and it turned out to be the ignition module getting too hot, and breaking down, i put heatsink paste on the base and it was ok. But it could be any of the 3.
Have you driven through any deep puddles, is you battery voltage ok.
Happy new year :)

The brother in law came over today with his Snap On SOLUS and stumbled across a couple of suspect codes.

One of which was 00313? 00315, aka Crankshaft sensor.

We went for a run after clearing the codes and did a 30 minute run (covering 15 miles) and it didnt cut out once?!?

He's told me to keep an eye on it and call him "if" and "when" it starts to cut out again so he can check again....

Could clearing the codes unconfuse the cars on board computer?

Now to get the brakes done (rear and front)

More blimmin expense lol

I have this exact same problem.. But ive just changed my crank sensor.. An since its ok when engine is cold but after 20/30 mins when engine is warm it just randomly cuts out. If you leave it to cool down for 5 mins then start it then it will start ok but keep cutting out every couple hundered yards or so.. Any idea's? lol

Finally picked it up from my bro's garage yesterday.

Flew it's MOT and whilst it was in my bro's garage he decided to clear up the crankshaft sensor etc (not replaced). He's been driving it for the past few weeks and it hasn't cut out once?!?

It's totally baffled me and I'm reluctant to go anywhere (barring work) just incase she let's me down again?!?

Time will tell I suppose (watch it die on me now on my way home lol)

Cheers for the feedback chaps (and chapettes)

and right one cue it starts again....

Talking to somebody today and he reckons it could be the oil temperature sensor?!?

I have a friend check the voltage via the crank and it was throwing out 12v... dizzy cap is all ok and no issues with fuel etc....

GGGgggggrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Just picked it up from BVR Automotive in Longton (Stoke on Trent).

They have replaced the crankshaft sensor (they say this is the fault).... time will tell, but Ive just driven for 30 mins and seems ok :)

Now to give her a little TLC again....

Cheers for the input and feedback folks.

on one of these I'd get looking at your ignition coil and the crankshaft sensor

Now for the bonnet respray.... she needs some TLC.

Ive been calling her allsorts the past few months (but have lost 2 stone in the process ;) )
