Not to piss anymore on Danny's parade but you mean one of our manual tensioners considering we made them first right?

Didn't realise you made them... or even made them first.
I was simply trying to help Dan out with ideas to reduce the chances of it happening again.

Issam - maybe you should develop a website compiling all your products or even a downloadable catalogue PDF just so people know what you produce / supply, you could even put prices in / dates first produced so there wouldn't be any confusion over who made what first !!!!
.... i know you have many parts available but there spread over loads of posts in lots of different forums.

Anyway sorry Dan for hijacking, any news for us mate ?

Thanks For the replys Guys,

What happened Many Months ago,was I got a INA Ceramic Coated Manifold and i wanted it fitting asap,But didnt have the Time todo it With just moving in too my new House..

So i gave it my Mechanic Friend (Who owns His Own Garage) todo the work which took 3days now after 2weeks after having it back i was out logging the car one night and shortly after the logging i was coming down throught my estate where i live...I came to a Rolling Stop while the car in front of me turned righth then as i sped up to Carry on (Around 25mph) shortly after this my car Snapped its belt..

Now after Searching and stripping Me & john found a Allen Key Wedged between the crank Pulley(Destroyed it) and the Alloy Crank housing which Punched a Hole in it...So we knew what was Needed ( after Discussion with my Mechanic mate,I felt i didnt want to end years of friendship for a Car...Even though i was ****ing ranging at that time so Old News)

We Stripped the head and i bought new Ferrea 1-peice exhaust Valves From Issam Along with Gates belt, headgasket, headbolt Ect So on...

So john renewed the Bottom Crank Pulley & housing along with Water Pump and Tensioner Kit....He changed my Exhaust valves and Sammy Sent me some Inlet which we changed (bent ones as the others were fine)

Anyway once Bolted together If anyone can remeber that far back on Cold start up the car was misfiring on cyl 3 & 4 but once it came up to temp it ran fine....So many weeks passed and around 400 miles later various Log runs too...We couldnt source the problem...

After much thinking i desided to Strip it all and build it from the ground up from chassis,Engine and Big turbo conversion but after moving in to my own house and then trying to plan my wedding & pay for it...I felt it was just too much hence why it took 8 months to get were i am...i then declared it Sorn But still insured...

Then i completly Rebuilt this current engine From base (apart From Removing the crank) But everything else was Removed and was new...Everything was built Either OE or Uprated nothing was skrimmped on in anyway...Once it was Built everything was checked and then rechecked...I then soon started her up & all i had problem wise was the leaking VVT gasket...Which a few weeks back changed now my car had been idleing for around 20mins on various Heat cycles off and On for 2 weeks...There was nothing wrong with it belt was checked (By me) as was Dandy...No rubbing,No grinding,No humming Nothing it was ****ING mint....

I Finished my Final checks on Saturday ready for the MOT so i though id drive it up the road...Ran on the drive for 5-6mins to get some Temperture in too it...all was Perfected few quick revs up and down ...So i was happy i then took it up the road 1st then 2nd then Changed to 3rd (around 2,300rpm as i was taking it easy) Then the belt Gave way....

So shortly after that i was head****ed....

I understand i can actually walk away from this now and get something else (Looked at a PPP prodrive scoob & a Mk4 R32 golf) but after some thinking & everyones Helpfull comments i desided to man up and sort it out....I have spent absoulty ££££ on rebuilding this from the ground up not to mention alot of My,johns and my Mates times doing it....

So ive stuck with it ,at the end of the day its a car and can be fixed either way just takes Labour & Money which i can doo.....Yes its Bad luck but tbf ive had alot of it with these engines my IHI ibiza was a ****ing Denso spark plug on idle...Which dropped a Valves and shortly after Bill made a thread of how poor Denso are....Then my Stupid mechanic and now this.....

I did chuckle at some comment about taking it to a Specialist but tbh last time i check i had a Top specialist Building it...Everything is Torque to spec And do in correct order...(Hes Built a Fair few not to mention how ****ing good he is..) Now for what ever reason People think ive Built this engine Are far far wrong...I only supplied the goods ...

FAO PhilW i did like your comment and tbh i expected the humour from it,But i know your not always a **** tbh....a few days ago if i had seen that response (from Experiance) i would now be banned...LOL...

I will fix this car

I know that not having a website has deffered customers to other vendors but you can ask any SCN member about me. I have a 1 on 1 personal relationship with all of them, something that would be very much disconnected had i had an eshop.

As for who made what first , I always give credit where it is due...always but there are some products we brought to the market first that others copy time and time again.

As for Danny. I will sort him out as always ;)

Yes but the worst thing for me is that I've sat, seen and heard a mk4 golf r32 at my local dealer today on my dinner..yes it ain't rapid but the nOise......non res milltek with flapper removed...

I need to sort this not having a car is making me wonder to other things...anything jap is outta the guestion I've gotta be 30 for that but a e46 m3 is 1540 a year ...I know I shouldn't be wondering but I need a car now ....

That cold r32 noise is still haunting me..what a powerful noise...

I really hope things work out for you Danny. You've come so far with it and I'm sure it would run so well once healthy.

Will the belt have caused catastrophic damage? Or will the majority or new bits within the engine be able to be reused?

I'm know what you mean about the sound of the R32s... sexual... but... they're probably not all they're cracked up to be on the road... kinda like Cameron Diaz without make-up...:sleepy:

Heads off:

Looks like the Bottom end is fine,Spins Freely and all the Decks are the same (Thank God)...Theres some Minor Kiss marks on my Piston Crowns 2x of them...But all is minimal ...

Managed to get the head off with the turbo,Dp & inlet and looking at it the damage looks like Just 3x valves But my Ferrea Valves :(...It will need to be stripped down to look at all the others..

I can't understand why it has snapped, all is clean now there and nothing in the way...My only question is the tensioner....****ing Auto Tension!!!!

very unusual for a gates belt to snap, i would have thought the quality control would be crazy strict unless the shop you got the belt from had it on the shelf for years and rubber goes brittle over time, i get this alot on plant drive belts. i think you need two belts and pulleys running side by side haha just incase.

Well the damage could of been worse Dan, nice to see you getting on with it with a positive attitude.

Get a manual tensioner / new middle inlet valves / head gasket and bobs your uncle :D

Hope it goes smoothly from now on mate - you truly deserve some good luck ;)

I think you want to take them all out & check them. Not really something you can (or at least should) do whilst they're seated
