Hi all before i begin i am aware of the common abs pump module problem but the car has been to Seat and dosent seem to be that.
Few months back the ABS light and associated tyre pressure and esp lights started coming on and off periodically until they came on and stayed on. Car was due a service so waited till it went in to get it looked at. Before they even looked at it they said it would be the common ABS pump module but service told me it was the O/S/R wheel hub and sensor. Continued to use the car until M.O.T time and new i would have to get it done to pass. Thought i would do the work myself to keep the cost down (big mistake), changed the sensor not too bad although had snap the old one to get it off.
Test drove the car, now a flashing brake system fault light came on above 40 mph. Tried disconnecting the battery to reset the system (another mistake) now had a power steering fault light up for my troubles. Thought now it was time to stop doing things myself.
Car went into local garage for M.O.T and diagnostic which showed system faults on both rear sensors they told me i would need two hubs an sensors. As i had parts for one side to do that first and see if it cleared that side.
Picked car up and in less than two minutes had the abs, power steering, brake system fault, engine fault, engine management lights come on plus the speedo stopped working. Now thats what i call progress. Phoned the garage in the morning to say what happend and ask if they could of done something with the code reader told me it couldnt be the code reader and to take the car back for further investigation.
Wasnt that confident with them and thought i better go back to Seat for a new diagnostic. This showed up the original ABS sensor fault and told me all the steering angle information had been lost hence the power steering fault light was on. Unfortunately they told me they couldnt code the steering angle information in until the other side hub and sensor were changed. Got the car back and now instead of power assisted steering i had power resistive steering where you have to force the wheel back to the centre position not nice to drive. Straight back into the dealership told me this was due to the loss of steering angle system information.
Got Seat to change the other hub and sensor again with aftermarket parts and guess what they still couldnt code in the steering angles because the system showed faults on the opposite side aaaaahhhhh. Told me if i left the car with them they would continue to investigate the fault but they didnt really have anything they could tell me they were going to do and having already spent £600 to make the car worse just for an M.O.T didnt fancy the prospect of a further £500 per day labour.
Am at a loss dont know what to do to find out what is actually wrong with the car currently the ABS POWER STEERNG SYSTEM ESP and TYRE PRESSURE lights are on with no power steering at low speed the other array of lights dosent come on any more.
Any previous experience or suggestions would be hugely appreciated.
PS had line checked for voltage at the ABS sensor plug and got 11.78 volts to prove the wiring not sure if this is right but for 12 volt system should be ok.
