IMHO, LSDs are more for cornering and 1/4 mile gains are better found with wider/lighter/stickier wheels and tyres.

. It makes the most of the power available

Having daily driven and tracked our Stage 3+ GTI in the states, the straight line traction "gained" after installing an LSD was negligible. I will say that unlike the OEM configuration, after adding the Wavetrac I was able to better manage the line between traction and not. IMHO, LSDs are more for cornering and 1/4 mile gains are better found with wider/lighter/stickier wheels and tyres.
