Turbo - Options

so i set off today in first and put my foot down, big clunk and a LOT of blue/white smoke, turned into a car park and switched off straight away

got a leon 2.0tdi 140 remapped and when he mapped it he said it gave an error like the turbo was on the way out, plus its sounded like a police car for a while whistling away, wont be in garage until monday but im assuming the worst

let me know what you guys think, what my options are regarding new/recon/hybrid turbos and roughly how badly i can expect my bank balance to be affected, and also where to look/companies as i have no idea

Defo turbo gone. PD140s are prone to it, more so if the map was agressive.
New replacement garrett should cost £600-£700 ish. Recon will be less. New hybrid stage 1 will cost you about a £1k. A bit less if you can get them a turbo to hybridize (lol) but yeah, then your looking at fitting, and possible cleaning of your cylinder block and intercooler if its dumped oil everywhere. not pretty.

i recon at best £900 at worst £1.5k all in

dont get the oil feed pipe from seat, just get a braided one from a motorfactors, cheaper and better. New exhaust gaskets. If the IC is going to be drained I would look at getting new o rings for the boost pipes flowing into it also.

Have you tried looking at just buying a new core? Or getting the old one recon'd rather than buying a recon. It may work out less as there mightn't be much wrong with the turbo.

Would ebay item 130668186972 do the job?

Do i have to get the gaskets and seals from seat dealers?

It went with quite a lot of noise/smoke so im presuming its pretty bad but it wont be in the garage until after my holiday so wont know until we remove it, found a recon for £290 delivered if i send them my old one

just trying to get the parts together so i can take it to my mates garage on a saturday morning for mates rates rather than paying full whack through the garage

That would be perfect, Darkside are legends when it comes to tdi products. £290 isn't bad, assuming it has a decent warranty and is a good refurb.
