My friends FR get's around the same MPG as me, sometimes though it will dip below that but I do get a lot of MPG if im honest. When I do a 2 hour drive that's when I tend to get a lot.

Mine's just about to hit the 20k mark and I keep meticulous consumption records based on real mpg calculated by brimming the tank every time. Consumption figures since the start range from 43 to 53mpg depending on driving conditions with an overall average of just under 50mpg. Trip computer always shows better figures (by about 4-5mpg) than the real figures I calculate.

I've noticed a difference in the car in the last couple of thousand miles and it is really starting to loosen up and as a result consumption has improved slightly. Last tankful was the most I have ever had - 491 miles when the light came on, 53mpg exactly and took 41.90 litres to fill up to the brim suggesting there was about 5 litres still there.

Hope this is of use and don't believe the trip computer!

Currently at 18,000 miles and with a 40 mile daily commute and spirited weekend driving I'm getting a real world average of 46 mpg according to my fuelly account in my Sig.

Read my thread for the 1.9 tdi fr. I get around 45mpg at best for non motorway use which gives about 400 miles to 40 litres. How some claim to get 700 miles I have no idea!

so your basicly looking at 45 - 55 mpg on average. Hmmm not bad considered the performance is not to shabby :)

Is it true that the road tax for these are £30 a year. or does it go up after a year or so?

How have you found these cars reliability wise?

Thanks

I thought that might be the case.

I have to say that is shocking that an average 2.0 engine today can have tax that is as low as 100 pounds.

Ignore the fact this engine is in an ibiza, an average 2.0 non turbo petrol today, I mean the likes of one that is around the average power of 140ps to 150ps can cost around the figure ‘at least’ double of what this engine cost per year in road tax. I think that is fantastic that this equivalent derv is so low.

Ahh - I don't consider £100 cheap, even though I currently pay £135, that said..

I haven't really paid much attention to other cars but I just wish SEAT had shaved another 3g/km off the stated 123g/km CO2 emissions to make it £30 a year, especially as the 1.2 TSI is 124g/km and the 1.4 TSI are 139g/km!

Mine is very dependant on how you drive. The gauge is not accurate but driven like daisy on my 22 mile 35 minute commute i can easily get 62, the most was 68 until last week at 73? I averaged on 400 miles this month so far 58 ish, pottering mind.... it can eaily drop 15mpg by a swift drive home or show 40 ish driven very quick. I get home 4-5 mins quicker but I could do 3 journeys for the price of 2 if you know what I mean.

When the TDi FR first made an appearance, a lot of motoring magazines stated it was 119g/km.

In answer to the OP, I've clocked mine using fuelly for nearly two years. Average over that time is 46mpg, this drops in winter to 42 and rises a little in summer. The computer claims I'm getting over 50 but unless I'm granny driving (which never happens..........trust me I've tried  ) it's rare to see over 50mpg. Best I've seen on the trip computer is 57, driving at 60 in traffic.
