Hi,

Have been away from the forum for a bit after selling my mk2 lean FR Tdi. At present I am the proud owner of an E46 M3 which is a fantastic car, that I love driving.

The only downside is the fuel consumption - at present around 19mpg...........which is making it a little bit difficult to be a daily driver.

What are people getting from their cupra's and cupra R's - I have always loved the cupra's and wonder if I might be better with one of these.....

Cheers

As much as we all like our Leons you'll never be better off in a FWD hatch vs. the M3. Don't do it!

Better to have a cheap run about for weekly duties...

I must admit that I do love the M3, it is an awesome drivers car and is also an out and out performance machine.

Not making any quick decisions as the one I have is mint.

Care to explain

40 - 42 mpg driving like a granny? ? I get around 34 on a motorway driving like a granny. Some of the figures I see on here to do with mpg are laughable :D

You getting it from the instant mpg, cause I can easily get that at 70mpg ;)

Overall mpg is going to be mid to high twenties

Cheers for the info - I have been for a blast tonight in the M3 and it is doing around 20 / 21 mpg but that is giving it some stick and then fast driving.

For the sake of a few mpg at the moment the sound from the engine justifies it for now :)

Just cos your not able to drive as economically don't mean it's not possible, I have done it over a 45 mile trip, was doing 60mph max and a long stretch of 50 mph

But that's not day to day driving so pretty meaningless :)

Day to day driving my fl cupra isn't great. I'm guessing I'm getting around the mid twenties if I'm lucky, probably less. I get about 350 miles to a tank.

I thought we had discussed this on a previous thread?
Those 40 mpg figures you are posting are pure fiction , they are not everyday driving figures.
The Cupra or Cupra r will not do over 36 mpg driven like a granny, I can get
My trip to show 50 mpg easily by resetting it into a journey but it's a pointless nonsense figure as I said before 1 press of the loud pedal and the mpg drops like a stone.

Why people post such inflated figures is beyond me.

To the op , round town driving is 20 -24
Motorway a roads is anything up to about 36 granny driving included

I know what you mean by the fuel consumption , my mate has just got a 53 plate M3 not sure if that's the same one as you? With smg box and he is getting around 17 mpg !

Fairly simple record amount of fuel put in, record amount of miles driven.

Divide litres by 4.54 divide Milliage by this figure.

Rinse and repeat a few times mean average. Low to mid 20s was my LCR
