Just looking for sombody to confirm my turbos dead, im pretty sure it is!

Basicly pulled out of a junction car started to buck drive about 200yards and joined a dual carrigeway then had a shite load of black smoke from the back, car runs ok but just no power ie no turbo.

As i said im pretty sure the turbo has died, cars on 75k which i have read its pretty common around this milage for them to go?

Wouldnt mind sombody just confirming the worse for me before i started my search for a second hand item.

What other engines use the same turbo?

A load of black smoke might be a blown off turbo hose, which would also show no boost too.

The black smoke could be unburned fuel?

Edit: ^^ as above!

I'm hoping so haven't had chance to check anything yet as its dark.

Thing that puzzles me is that it drove fine for about 3 miles with no smoke or bucking just no boost.

Did smell abit oily earlier when I took it round the block come to think of it.

Been told more Likly white smoke if turbos gone?

Blue and or white depending on what's leaking if it's turbo (oil or water)

Sods law would be finding the blown pipe in the pipework behind the bumper

No bother there, I've had it off once before.

Rather that than the cost of getting a new tubby fitted.

whenever mine has popped a boost pipe off I've had a **** load of smoke and then no boost but it's generally driven fine (minus the boost). warwick services to oxford with no boost is not fun :( both times mine has been the pipe connected to the upper metal pipe that runs along the side of the engine, so fairly easy to spot

also, no other VAG engines use the exact same turbo
