generally I've seen enclosed systems or panel filters work best on near standard N/A cars. Open cones will make more noise but can actually drop power if it a poor place and sucking hot air. (Did on my old 1.4 MG).

my mate put a k&n cone filter on his ibiza and after a day he took it off saying he hated it it guzzled his fuel!! (he's heavy footed anyway) did sound awsome though. is it worth getting a cone filter?

On a N/A car. Personally speaking no for open cone.

Yes I felt a drop in high revs. Wasn't massive but I noticed it.

No not really worth it, just a panel filter will do.

You may get a bit more noise, there known to increase full consumption too...

+1 keep the standard airbox and panel filter. Aftermarket foam filters don't filter the microscopic particles from the air as well as a standard paper filter, they suck in hot air causing power loss, and finally if it's one of the ones that need oiling, then the oil eventually buggers up your MAF.
