Sorry for gumming up you RR. I wasn't throwing my bummy out of the pram or saying anyone is wrong and I'm right. I don't want anyone to take me the wrong way I'm not that kind of a person. I genuinely love my diff (you may of noticed and yes I do need to get out more!) and would recomend them to anyone (that's going to use it). It'd be good to meet up with some of you guys sometime and put faces to names.

Al, I live in Lincolnshire we don't do straight roads here exept the A15. Lots of small twisty roads lots of tractors it's great fun if a little scary!

Forget painting the gearbox, waste of time.

Worry more about filling it with top quality oil like FUCHS TITAN, thats a better investment ;)

That's the engine oil I use so makes sense ;)

Fuchs Titan Race Pro is quality stuff. The old girl loves it.

the transmission oil is recommended for race gears and diffs.
Takes a while to warm up so just go gentle on your gear selection.
Its perfect for racing or track abuse [B)]

Is this any good for road use or is it a waste if I'm not going to track my car? How long does it take to warm up?

Takes a little longer than your average Quantum VW spec oil I've found. But not much longer. It's brilliant oil. Can take high temps superbly so even if you don't track it but go for hard road hacks then it'll be fine also.

You should get some trackdays going on with the stretched tyres fitted mate ;)

The Split R will be ok if it's setup right and working fine now. A 007/008 would work better for the car as it's full recirc. I don't think a Split R will ever work aswell as them tbh mate. If it was me I'd sell the Split R and get a nice shiney new 008. Awesome GTI will do it cheaper than Forge. You get a nice Forge fanboy keyring too, aswell as the green, yellow and blue springs. So you're all setup with the yellow spring for stage 2 from the off.

Do it ;)

Haha race ya

Get rid of the split-R, I had one and the difference between that and the 007 is night and day, if you want noise fit a cone or mod your airbox, the increased boost will make the 007 or 008 sing ;)

I think I might end up getting one after winter along with my draft 42 filter setup thingy. See what fuss is about

The car has now been dropped off with my friend for the work to be done at his garage.

New clutch, re con'd gearbox and a Wavetrac LSD, bring it on! :D

Done within a day or mates rates/lazy labour time? :D

It's supposed to be a dry for the remaining week so if the roads are dry this weekend you'll be able to test drive it properly :). One thing that's annoying me at the moment is the road salt, it might not let the road freeze but it still make it much more slippery than even rain soaked roads. The salt seems to hold in moisture and create some greasy film over it.

For what its worth, I took my car out in the snow on Sunday with normal tyres. The LSD helps to make sure you don't stick where you might have stuck with the normal diff - and that was with summer tyres.

Let's see when the car comes back ;) I don't use it everyday as I commute into London by one of those train things  sooo I'm in no immediate rush to get it done. Would rather it's just done properly and in safe hands which I know it will be.

Yeah, I noticed that on the forecast! Crazy old UK :) The salt is the worst part of it all mate. I'd rather not drive my car at all during the winter, but it has to be aired out every so often... I don't think I'll be testing it 'properly' ;) as such yet mate, the clutch will need bedding in for a while, then it's back to full boost!!

Good to know Al :)

Hopefully I won't be driving mine at all in the snow this winter, but if it so happens, I'll see what the diff can do..

Another purchase..

I just can't help myself lately with this car and the upgrades... Ordered something else that will be going straight to my mates' garage to be fitted while all the work is going on.

42 Draft VW shifter bushing kit :)

D.K let me know about this little upgrade and I thought why not while the work is being done.

Smoother, more direct and precise gear changes are exactly what I'm after so I'm hoping it all comes together when fitted for fun fast road use, and track..

I won't get the car back until sometime next week now but I literally cannot wait! The work is being done properly and no corners are being cut/missed.

:D
