Hey guys,

Happy new year to you all!

My Ibiza seems to be letting me down big time in the past few weeks with the cold weather.
When sitting in the car defrosting windows etc it doesnt seem to be charging it actually turned off my HID's and EPAS and started making a warning noise when i drove, i actually need to turn it off then back on! seems the car will only charge once rev'd over 2K then charge throughout the rev range is this common?

Next one is a i checked fault codes for a engine management light and it seems to be a faulty MAF car drives fine with 50mpg fuel i unplugged it and its the same? any ideas on cleaning or replacing?

and my final Question is i had to replace my windscreen washer pump due to a plastic but on the pump breaking this replaced now it doesnt seem to be working and now the rear wiper has also stopped working? any ideas as tonight the rear passenger lights have gone too? cheers

Check the guides on FAQ for the alternator load cable , it runs along the gearbox and is common to pull out of its connector. Soldering the wires fixes the problem, it did it on my Ibiza. That will fix the charging problem.

Might also want to check what the alternator is pushing back to the battery. I just had the fuse board on top of the battery replaced as it was corroded and wasn't allowing the battery to charge even though the alternator was doing it's job.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like the rear washer pipe has come apart in the boot, and as you've been spraying the water, it has got to the electrics.
You need to take the interior boot cover off and examine.

Your washer pipe can disconnect either (As far as I'm aware): Under the bonnet, in the right hand side of the boot (Where the seat belt thingy is) or inside the boot lid (Where the rear lights etc are.

There should be 5 screw to take the interior boot lid cover off.
Let me know if you get stuck :)

Thanks for the quick reply!

My window washers have gone mental! turns out a pump had cracked at the bottom of the bottle changed it i can see there is two! now i have no water to the front but to the back but no wiper!
I suspect the rear wiper motor is away ill have a look when i get a chance and when its dry!

As for the alternator after rev'd over 2k it charges back up to 14v
before that its down to about 12ish volts a weird one really dunno if its anything to do with HIDS draining the battery on tick over i'll also check for this loose wire! a picture pointing me in the right direction would be useful if anyone has one?

and as for the MAF its rather dirty so taking it off for the moment and stuck a K&N cone on i'll take it too bits clean it and reset the fault codes hopefully thumbs up after that!
