1.9 tdi 200,000 miles

Hello people. Some might remember I was lookog for a cheap diesel for the misses. Found this on gumtree

Do these engines go bang at 200,000 or still save for another 100,000

Someone I know has a 1998 Ford Mondeo, which is pushing 250k. And it has a petrol engine.

Not strictly relevant, but I thought it was a ridiculous mileage for a petrol motor.

No reason why it can't go on have seen a pd150 golf on 300k but I would look at a well documented service history make sure things like bushes bearings etc have been done in the past and the obvious like services

In Spain I've seen some vw taxis on 450,000 km. a lot have over 300,000km. All still sounding sweet as a nut!

that's not cheap for 200,000 miles! I got my V12 E38 with every optional extra for just over 600 euro or so and it only had 45k

It's well over priced, look at it like this:

Worth £700/800 book price?

I certainly wouldn't wanna go paying double what the insurance would value it at.

I know a guy picked up a similar age A6 saloon with full leather, 2.5L V6 tdi, had everything in it, the full works and it was tidy, he got it for about £600 and it was almost half that mileage. Mind you he's a jammy barsteward.
