Funny smell (like gas)

Hadnt driven my lcr mk1 for a bout a week due to being off sick, bro drove it fri to work as his m3 woudlnt shift in the snow and he complained of a foul smell coming from the blowers. I Drove it this weekend and there is a foul gas like smell in the car, never smelt anything like it before.

any ideas?

I was thinking maybe its the pollen filter? clogged up from snow/water?

Eggy smell is sometimes the cat on its way out.

Are you sure it's not oiley.? Could be the crankcase breather hose is perished and is venting into the cabin. Relatively common and easy to check and fix.

Its more of a gasey/eggy smell still lingering in the car

from older posts above it could be:

1) the cat
2) worked hard
3) coil packs
4) clutch

in terms of being worked hard, on the fri my bro drove it, took over 3hrs to get home, bumper to bumper traffic, so maybe thats the cause?

I have no performance, clutch or turbo problems.
