in my tdi fr... Made a right mess of my front end. 1st time i've hit anything as substantial as a fox & boy did it go with a bang! Needs a new bumper, splitter, fog light & grille, main grille & the undertray is dragging it's arse on the ground... As for the fox...rip... Any thoughts on what it may cost to repair the car back to it's former glory? It's all bog standard pre facelift mk4 stuff.

Start looking at breakers.

And don't kill any more foxes. I once hit a pheasant at about 80mph, smashed the grille and the o/s headlight clips.

When I went to take the headlight out for repair, there was a perfectly cooked pheasant haunch stuck to my radiator.......

Mmm, radiator roasted Pheasant, sounds tasty!

The fox got a 60mph headache as it bounced off my bumper & there was no way to avoid the furry little critter (I say little it was a pretty big bugger)

Luckily I killed it outright as I'd not have liked to see any animal suffer

I don't think I'll be splattering any more foxes soon, they don't half make a mess!

Looking at the costs I might use my insurance as I have protected no claims & the excess will be less than the parts bill if I do it myself...

hehehe, might have been quite tasty after being tenderised at 80mph and slow cooked on your radiator!

I have a spare facelift bumper going cheap if you need one. In arctic silver. Probably got most of the grills as well.

my fr is in arctic grey! What sort of price for the facelift bumper? Do you have all the kit to do the facelift on my pre facelift fr? Is it a simple bolt on job or is any modification needed to any parts?

Sorry my bad I meant pre-facelift. So would be a straight fit.

I will check what bits I have and that its still in good nick (its in the loft). I would be after £60 for it and could meet you some of the way (courier would probably be expensive).

A facelift bumper is a straight fit to yours as well, a cupra bumper isnt though.

I don't think you'll have any problems with this particular fox though.... or should I say ex-fox..

Mate of mine hit a deer near Normanby Hall. It made a mess of his car front, so he picked it up in an old blanket and sold it to a butcher to fund his repairs.......

The trouble these days is plastic. I had a Ford Escort with a metal front edge: hit a pheasant, the phezzie went bye bye, you stopped, picked him up and had him for tea.***

With plastic fronts, the pheasants run off laughing, while you pick up all the bits of smashed splitter, bumper, lights etc. Not even a free tea out of it........:(

*** I mean you took him home and ATE him, rather than had him round for tea to stop him putting in a claim for whiplash etc.

On two occasions someone has hit a cow outside my house. Both cars were smashed to bits, bonnet bent, windscreen gone & roof creased. Both times the cows were fine!

A dog ran out into the road on a NSL road once..
Cost me £1500 of new bumper, undertray, air con condenser, intercooler (but SEAT Sport'd it), oil cooler, etc, fun times!
