Hi just been to tps for cupra wishbone bushes and was charged £40 which seems a lot? Part number is 8N0407181B, they also look smaller than last time but I can't remember. I queried this and he assured me they were right and the ibiza and tt use the same?

Just want to make sure before my cars in pieces!

Thanks

They're for a different kind of wishbone than the usual type that has a 'console bush'

All depends what your car is fitted with, but I would expect the ones you've got to be wrong To be honest.

Apply the handbrake, grip a front tyre at the quarter to three position and try to rotate the wheel backwards and forwards. If there is excessive movement, they're worn.

Thanks.

Do you need to jack the car ?

I ve just passed an Mot and been in for a service and nothing mentioned. However iam badly wearing the inside edge of both front tyres and i swear i am hearing knocks when the car is rolling along side streets and not under power.

no.dont jack car up,,thats why you put handbrake on..to hold car still..if you jack it up the front wheel will spin.

And out of gear, what you are checking for is, if it is possible to move the front wheel forward and back from its initial position, if possible, then that would indicate that the console bush is torn.

Did it today and could find no movement.

Then jacked it up and with wifey on the brakes pulled the wheel around but could feel no play. Gave the droplink some as well but seems tight.

Maybe its my tracking thats out which is ragging the front tyres. I ve been driving really steady as well but the inside edge is going fast
