Picked this beaut up a couple of weeks ago and love it!! :) already purchased a few bits ie fmic, boost gauge, induction kit. also have taken photos for fitting the Fmic so hopefully make a decent thread for others to use!

So decide to install my intercooler.... got a few photos of the way I did it so might come in usefull for a few others.

Here we go, firstly removed the bumper (the 4 bolts) and the old cooler. What a massive difference in size!!

Then found some threaded bar which I happened to have knocking around, cut 2 even lengths roughly 300mm.

Then to mount the cooler the the slam panel I found these 2 brackets which are perfect for the job! Cut the top off them both to make sure they sat flush with the top of the panel.

Measure up the distance between both of the threaded bars and mark on the panel where each would sit, position the cooler in the centre of the panel and then tak weld the brackets in place. Make sure you check if the distance is correct between the 2 bars so that it sits evenly.

Next find a nut that fits and adjust to the height that suits the cooler best. for extra stability put a nut under the bracket and then one over the top (as shown) and tighten them both together. this should stop any movement for the cooler

Here's one I made earlier.......)

Now make up the pipework to fit, I have changed this now as the bend would not fit behind the bumper properly, Good tip is to check your bumper fits each step you go.

On the other side you have to make a 180 degree bend

on your intercooler piping you want to get rid of the squashed pipe going inbetween your subframe on the passanger side - massive bottle neck
also, beed roll your hard pipes to stop them popping off under load :)

looking clean fair play, very tider car

welcome to SCN by the way

yea plan was to get rid but didnt have anything to connect the boost sensor to :( but will do that at a later stage probably, already rolled the alu pipe to stop that popping off :) had the same problem on my punto gt when I had that ;) cheers for advice though! ile try and sort getting that plastic one off that runs through the sub frame. I take it you have to drop the frame to remove it though??

cheers for comments :)

View from underneath the car with the pipework in place.

and used a 130 degree samco elbow to connect it to the original pipework that goes to the turbo outlet. £27 later :(

had to trim some of the bumper to make the cooler fit behind it as it was so thick. Didnt really want to do that but never mind, will eventually wide mouth the bumper anyway.

will add more pics when its finished but got the bumper in the paint shop atm getting rid of a couple of stone chips and a scuff on the bottom :) also a lcr splitter might have to be purchased ;)

can buy a hardpipe with map sensor on from forge motorsport :) they are in the traders section on here

to get the squashed pipe out you have to drop it yes, but i just cut mine out as i knew i would never use it again.

i used to run 2.5" piping from turbo to inlet mani
