Falken 453 tyres...

Hi there,

I need to get 2 new rear tyres for my LCR.

I have been using Falken 452 for the last few years as I like them a lot, good value for money and all round grip IMHO.

The 452 have been now superseded by the 453 and I would like to know if anyone here as tried them? If so what do you think?

I have researched the 453 but because they are new there are not many reviews on them. I did find this though which seems encouraging, but it is very biased I would have thought... http://www.tyrepress.com/News/25453.html However that said I think the FK-452 was a very popular tyre back in its day, so I doubt Falken would introduce the 453 and make it worse than the 452! I find it weird though that the tread pattern is completely different, but in the link above it does say they wanted to develop a brand new tyre, not modify the 452, so guess that makes sense.

Also where else other than camskill, mytyres and black circles is cheap to buy tyres online? Black circles is the cheapest of the three being £80 delivered for the FK-453.

Lastly, please don't post saying "x" or "y" is a good/better tyre, I specifically want to know about the Falken 453!!

My mate is running them on his 335 and rates them pretty highly, he came straight from 452's and apparently the 453's are quieter but just as good in the wet and the dry.

Also I'm pretty sure they are asymmetrical which is a plus.

For reference I found tyretest.com which lets people leave reviews on hundreds of tyres!

From 3705 reviews the FK-452 got average score 2.25 out of 6 (the lower the number the better)... http://www.tyretest.com/summercar_tyres/falken_ohtsu/fk_452/index.html

From only 38 reviews so far, the 453 has an average score of 2.18... http://www.tyretest.com/summercar_tyres/falken_ohtsu/fk453/index.html

As a comparison, from 3397 reviews the Toyo Proxes T1-R scores an average of 2.2... http://www.tyretest.com/summercar_tyres/toyo/proxes_t1_r/index.html


So despite being early days this is a good indication that the 453 will be the same if not better than the 452.

Lastly found a great website, grippy.co.uk. The 453 is £89.49 all in fully fitted at your house/work, they come to you!
