What is the best/cheapest scan tool?

I have the same one and also have vagcom, The handheld VAG scan in the link is great to carry about with you but what I will say is that it doesn't read all the VW/AUDI protocall.
I have reset service intervals with it and airbag lights.

It reads generic codes but thats it. What I have found is when I scan with the handheld it will list some codes but then if I scan with VAGcom straight after there will be other codes which the handheld didn't read or detect.

I have mine in the car all the time for emergency use but wouldn't rely on it.
If I had to have one or the other I would choose VAGcom as its far better.

take it you dont have the multi changer then wont fit mine in my glovebox

its a good tool also clears airbags and abs etc

Well, they said they updated it and it was working, needed to install the drivers.

yeah works a treat cheers. Installing it was easy enough..

Problem is its come up with 7...thats right 7! fault codes. Now, do these codes build up over time? for example if the hose to the dv pops off will that log a fault until it is cleared (not cleared any yet just run a full scan) or will it go on its own after a bit?

Help would be appreciated

Yeah they are stored until rectified and cleared.
Make a note of what they are delete the codes and try again when the eml comes on

Hi peeps ok so am i bein well stupid but does this scanner tell u what the fault is (as on pro jobbies what garage uses)or just give u a code no &have 2 look up what it means?
