Aerial Question

The reception on my radio has got gradually worse since I got my Altea back in October. I am guessing this is due to issue with the corroded base described on here. My question is can anyone recommend a replacement aerial? Soon after I got the car I fitted a SONY XAV-601BT head unit using a Fakra adaptor. Am I right in saying that if I am changing the aerial I would be best going for a bog standard non VAG option, and then just taking out the Fakra adaptor? Also, if I go this route are there any potential problems I am likely to come up against when wiring it in?

you will find up in the head lining a small connector ( round i think ) that you can plug into to save taking the cable out all the way down the car

you did put an amplifer booster thingy in to power the stock antenna & most aftermarket ones need a supply to make em work semi well

Personally i'd just replace the antenna base with a new one they do corroded over time and reception is back to normal once you get a new one. Aftermarket HUs however will need a booster added onto the aerial connector to HU.
