To keep you all up to date, turbo finally died on thurs night, spent the weekend changing ex mani and turbo and fitting fmic, running brand new studs in the turbo to dp area, all new nuts on the mani, a new oe oil feed line to the turbo, new oe gaskets on everything split, I like to keep it new as much as possible! is also now a non cracked mani, new ones are a scary cost...so that's a low mileage one! i had planned on having the mani and turbo ported but time does not allow this time round...

so now running a k03s unsilenced and std actuator, 3"dp and large fmic (unsure on dimensions, fills the bumper from behind bar to sticking out the bottom alittle, 2.25"ends tho :( ) 2.5" pipe work all the way for the rest.

First run out... All warmed thru and fluids checked.

Second run out, quick vagcom log, little second gear carpet action... showing some over shoot and under shoot on boost targets (probably the increased airflow and shoddy revo stg1??)
Seen 176 g/s at 5300rpm, and IDC's of 149% at the same time... 33ms injector time... Didn't rev past this point. Returned home having completed first proper test and not wishing to destroy things with this lean issue..
Have hopefully arranged a rolling road to log a few things properly and check fuel pressures etc..

Hoping for a solution to this on going problem!!

Found some time recently to dig into the problem that is my ibiza at the moment, problem as above!

Now I have checked fuel pressure, seeing 3.5 bar on idle, 5.4 ish on boost. Running 4 bar regulator.

now experiencing it throwing up fuel system too lean code and lambda b1s1 malfunction in circuit.with block 032 showing 25% sometimes! But only so often, and lots of black reek out the back! Sometimes to the point of no longer being able to drive due to misfiring and plumes of black out the back. All the time seeing steady 14.7 give or take a few .1's on the wideband.

Been reading into the lambda code and can point to maf? So health check the maf. I'm getting about 175 g/s peak, 5.5k rpm ish, still seeing 30+ ms Injector times,
Or wiring.. Had a poke around and visual inspection of the localised lambda wiring, seems fine! No obvious breaks, pins on plugs clean.

Do I either..
Buy a new b1 s1 lambda probe, and hope it solves the issue.
Buy injectors, assuming they are not functioning correctly and causing the ecu to demand huge injector loads to run the car.
Or get another ecu, assuming the map is at fault, and demanding huge injector loads possibly caused by a cowboy mapper?

Helps always appreciated folks!

Why you running a 4bar FPR on a stage 1 map?

Ignore the IDC,s I always saw 100+% when logging on Revo stage 1 and 2.

Lean on the wideband: Any exhaust leaks? Boost leaks? N75 duty? Any fault codes?

On my stage 2 i ran the wideband setup in the second lambda position (decatted), then cable tied the OEM lambda to my anti roll bar still electrically connected. Worked a treat.

Some logs would help.

It's how it came when I bought it.

Wideband reads 14.6/14 .7 all the time! Sensor is approximately opposite the 1st lambda probe.

I get shed loads of black out the back and misfires sometimes, when its tuned the fuel trim toward 25%. So pointing to being mega rich but wideband says otherwise?

Ignore the injectors being open constantly from 5k onwards? Even though its flowing more and more air higher up? That sounds like bad advice! I've been wrong before though! I have considered revo just tells it to max the fuel out???
Previously, back in 2011 an old log shows a flow of about 145g/s and I was seeing 20+ms, now its 175g/s and 30+ ms and yet seeing no drop from 14.x AFR?

What block is the n75 duty cycle? I'm seeing good boost response and a steady drop in boost as the revs rise after the spike..
Looking at boost request, its exceeding the request almost always, so no dramatic leaks..
Exhaust seems ok, with the amount of black soot out the back it would be painting the underside! Haha.

I mentioned the two codes that come up on occasion (daily or weekly depending how it feels) in the last post. Codes are more prevalent on a long journey. But even without codes in the system it's flat and boggy, and really struggles in 5th when loading it up. Doesn't seem to go past 4k easily when in 5th, also not anywhere as good as it should be in any gear!

What logs would you like?

wiring/ECU fault the " lambda b1s1 malfunction in circuit"
Seen it several times on ibizas
not found a cure for it

If your wideband is staying on 14.5 its not working properly
when that faultcode appears it latches the lambda adaption to +25% which is the overfueling. You will see the sensor voltages, likely on both pre and post cat lambdas dropping to near zero volts whilst this fault condition is active

Thank you bill, Not really what I wanted to hear...but thanks, I will log and report back to you on the voltages being seen, with the code active and not.
I don't know if this changes it being an ecu fault, but I've seen anything from 6% to 25% adaption when the fault code for b1s1 lambda is active. Do you think this means it could be the sensor? Is it worth buying one at £120? Or putting the money into rewireing and fitting another ecu?

It seems to present its self on a journey over 8 ish miles long, ie after cruising. A quick journey into town and back ( 1-2miles) it will stay clear.

The wideband was new from aem in late june. it does go round to about 13 for a second when the ac is switched on at idle then returns to 14.5/.6 Runs 14.6/.7 on power and 15.0 on overrun, so the numbers change, will need to try get an exhaust probe up it for another afr check..

It's also mot time in a couple weeks, which is a huge problem when running like it is!

my aem's on overrun go off scale lean as on overrun >2krpm the injectors are switched off. Somethings up with yours, I'm convinced.

I've had reliability issues on my AEM gauges of late and stopped using them on the dyno. (PLx device now)

We rewired the ibiza we had in, direct from lambda to ecu, and swapped ecu's and still could not rid the car of the fault. something else in the shared circuits at play... "somewhere" - we never found it. Disconnected the lambda it was fine.

Thanks, That makes sense. Something I knew but never added up! Haha! I have contacted who I bought it off as it's always been reading like this so was supplied faulty. What is your 'PLx' device?

Running a disconnected lambda was a short term fix then? :)

And replacing the whole engine loom for an unbutchered/unresistored one and swapping the ecu would be the long term fix? Would I be as well to source an me7.5 loom and ecu? And just update the car to wideband in the process as that was in the future plans anyway? Or would that not be as simple as it sounds?

I would hope that a convert to wideband, as the wiring is different and our loom is what we make up here, would fix something like this, however, without knowing what the actual cause is, there is an element of  and

Does the resistored part of the loom get replaced by your new part?

nope. wideband and additional relay control etc... not n249 stuff

resistored stuff makes me believe thats what Damages the ECU

It's seems to be a common link on cars with this issue. :( shame it was done before I got it,

It's worth a try removing the resistors I guess... See if it disappears.. They may degrade in the heat above the rocker cover/ turbo area causing something to happen.

I'll get to it searching for an un touched loom!

it did'nt have any effect on the one we had. we reverted the resistors back to solenoids... but if the damage was done? I dont know. Swapped ecu's at the time and no change either, but I could'nt vouch for that ecu having issue/damage either. My best guess is another component/wiring causing this on a shared power line.... but we could'nt find it at the time. Spent many hours searching, and abandoned it as unecconomic to persue further at the time.

What's normal lambda voltage seen in vagcom?

I'll see if I can dig out the logic info behind the decision side of the ecu, and find what is all linked to the lambda circuit.. And what parameters trigger the b1s1 code, then possibly find out what it thinks is happening then go from there.

We're you seeing high injector times on the other Ibiza's you've seen?

injectors times were irrelevant to me.. ecu kicked in lambda adaption thinking it was too lean (low to near zero lambda voltage on 031) and added full +25% fuel addition - This caused what was an ok fuel level to go +25% too rich

"malfunction in circuit" needs to go further to explain what circuit? Heater circuit? (prone to shorting out in lambda probes, which damages ecu output?)
malfunction in measurement circuit?

what I saw was active working b1s1 and b1s2 on 031, until the fault occured at which point the 031 voltages on BOTH sensors dropped to near zero and +25% lambda adaption started. When b1s1 was disconnected, b1s2 would come back to life and switch like normal..

weird huh?

logs, 031.

heres a couple logs of 031, just a short drive up my street, into second and very small cruise...second log was coming back to the house.

a log of 031 with code active. notice the second bin bits column shows a value 42 seconds in, which on the screen at the time had a degrees C unit. Also b1s2 voltage goes to 2803.5 volts! Odd!
