Gearbox Info

Hi

Im looking for a new Gearbox for my LCR, i have found a box from an AUQ engine (mines a BAM) will it fit and what about ratios?

I think mine is ERR code, but could do with that confirming.

Did you find an answer to this fella as i need to replace my gearbox. Ive got a 04 225 LCR. Not a clue what the gearbox code is.

Can anyone help?

LCR & LC gearboxes are interchangeable, ratios shouldnt be too far off each other either. To check which code gearbox you have either check the sticker in the boot or in service book, lettering for gearbox code will be similar size/font to engine code BAM FZQ or BAM FML or AUQ FML etc

Give ALLGEARS a shout in worksop, will be cheaper than price you have mentioned.

Or possibly cheaper option (if not installing a diff at the sametime) is to just buy another box and swap them

3rd gear whine is really common it's usually the lay shaft bearing and is nowhere near £700 to sort. I'd say half that.

It causes casing to wear too which is where the major cost is, so i hear.

I'm not sure, place fairly local to me quoted my friend about £300-400 to sort his but he picked up another box for £100 .... His old box is still sitting in my mates workshop if you wanted one to refurbish.

That is a good idea but with that way the same will happen over time being a very common issue. Depends if you want a short term or long term fix.
