Most common problems on the 1.4 na engine

Just wondered what problems people have had over the years with the 1.4 non turbo engine, and how they fixed there problems?

touch wood had no problems with mine. dont think many problems kicking about with them. the engine has been around a while and is strong used in the vw ranges skoda etc..however it when turbos are put on the engines problems start to arise.

Coil packs, injectors, the odd water pump leaking, lambda probe issues, maybe a temp sensor here and there but on the whole this is a pretty good engine.

Just make sure you stick to the timing belt replacement guide or 4years or 40k as they can become an issue if left to snap.

In my mechanics manual it says 60k replacement cam belt.
