For the last few months the rear passenger door intermittently would not open from the inside, as if the child lock was on when it wasnt.

More recently ive noticed that after I lock the car and alarm it, you can still on this door from the outside and the alarm sounds.

Taken to a garage and they reckon its the door lock mechanism that needs replacing.

How much is this part from the main dealers?

Ive searched for one on ebay and found replica ones as below, are these any good?

any help would be appreciated

I just had both my rears replaced, one side wouldn't lock and the other wouldn't open. after taking the door panel off and seeing that the window had to come out to get to the lock mechanism, I decided to pay the extra and get the Local VW specialist to do the work.
I'm glad I did as they managed to shatter the window and damage the door trying to remove the window.
There is a disc that needs to be punched out first before you can remove the window so you can get at the lock mechanism and this is what caused them the problems.

The mechanism came in at £114 + Vat so with labour there wasn't much change from £500. With the cost of the new window and the door repair they are probably out of pocket.

I've done a rear on my LCR and managed to break the window, lol. The replacement window was less than £50 brand new from TPS and the lock was around £100 from Sere Motors so alot cheaper than getting someone else to fit it for me.
The other rear one on mine has gone so going to have to do that one soon as well, hopefully the window will stay in one piece this time, lol.

Well i finally got the rear lock mechanism fitted.

Cost me £35 for replica part from ebay and got my usual garage to fit, charged me £100 to fit, but that included labour for a full service too. Not bad and working fine.

Although he did say it took all afternoon and was a big pain in the butt!

Think I need to replace one of my rear ones, getting an intermittent fault code and alarm goes off when starting.
Ive done front ones before but not rears and reading this doesn't fill me with confidence

Well according to him it was a big job, something to do with the window, hence other posters talking about smashing theirs! Im no good at the manual stuff.

Are the rear doors different to the fronts as you dont have to remove the front windows when replacing the lock motors?

They're not too bad to do once you've done a few, harder to do than the fronts as the window clips into the regulator mech rather than 2 10mm's like the front, just take your time when prying the white clip open and makes life easier if you have someone to pull the window up while you open the clip up,this is where the window can break or the clip can break, never had one break on me but thats the hardest part, the vw specialist who damaged the door and broke the window couldn't have been that special lol.

Yes, it was the second time they had broken a window doing the rear locks. I'm going to attempt the front locks myself as they are starting to play up now and I have the butyl strip to seal the door panels at the same time.

Sounds like I've got another job to do then, Are they the same across the Seat / VW / Audi range? Did all Leon's have the same mechanism? I'm guessing it'd be the doorcards which would be different between the Cupra (electric windows etc) and the base models?

Cheers in advance

My drivers door doesn't lock or unlock via the key fob, same as the boot lid, all over doors working fine. Will this just be down the mechanism or is it something more sinister?
