Do you got the old key? I had the same problem. The metal bits that make contact with the battery didn't made any contact. Maybe you've got the same problem.

Tried adding contact too mate, reckon the board might have gone, gunna do the flip key upgrade

Windows work fine as well as the central locking inside the car, just no remote locking. I do remember that before sometimes you would have to push the button on the remote several times before it worked

That's good. If i do that only the driver side unlock. I think in your case it's just the key.

That's a bit less of a worry, thanks for your help man! Would you have any idea how hard it is to reprogram? I only have the one key at the minute..

If you have Vag Com or VCDS its not that hard. But i can't find the instructions right now. I thought there was one option to do it without vcds.

This is translated from dutch. Maybe it can help.

1. It is necessary that both be used in the car keys supplied, both the key with remote transmitter (A) when the normal key (B) is used.
2. For synchronizing one has a maximum 30 seconds.
3. Key (B) is used to turn the ignition key and (A) is the key to be programmed.
4. Make sure the car is unlocked before starting. Programming
5. Turn the key (B) in the contact position between the positions of the steering wheel and start.
6. Connect with key (A) the end of the driver's door of the wagon.
7. Unlock and then lock the lock of the driver's door with the key (A) while holding down the button (Unlock 1) of the corresponding key is pressed.
8. Take finally the key (B) from the ignition.

my mum used to have a mk1 leon and same thing happened our key but we never bothered fixing it, though it was a pain in the ass getting in2 the car in the dark lol
