Tried search but got sick of looking through all the posts.

My remote fob has stopped working so I was just being lazy and opening the car by inserting it into the door lock for about 2 weeks, now I have got sick of this and replaced the key fob battery with a new one. Problem I have is it still wont work :censored:

Anyone got any advice ? Does it need coding by the stealer ? Cheers

Right I took the plunge and took the transmitter out of my second seat key and put it in the new flip key, now the key works fine and starts the car, but the instructions I have on how to program the key to work the central locking does not

Is there anymore instructions lurking around instead of these ones?

Seat Key Fob Programming

Remote Control Programming (1997 ON)
Procedure

1.Switch Ignition ON with new key and leave the key in the ignition.
2.Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second key.
3.Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn will sound once.
4.Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding procedure. The remote control will now be programmed.

NOTE:When performing programming on additional remotes the procedure is the
same, except
you press the unlock button 2, 3 or 4 times for the different remote.
For example : If programming 2 remotes press the unlock button twice with a 1 second interval between each press, repeat for 3 and 4 remotes.

5.Switch Ignition OFF.
6.Remove key from ignition and check for operation.
7.The coding procedure can be repeated up to 4 times for additional remotes.
8.The ignition must be switched OFF between programming each remote control.

Remote Control Erasing (1997 ON)
Procedure

1.Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.
2.Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second key.
3.Press the remote control unlock button 5 times in 1 second intervals. A short horn will sound.
4.Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate memory erase.
5.Switch ignition OFF, all remotes are now tuned in.

Copeyed this from a post I used when my battery ran out

I think it must be the weather becasue my keyfob stopped working the other day too. I replaced the batterys and checked the connections and noticed the large metal strip wasnt connecting the battery corectly (I could have bent this a little when replacing the batterys ) so i used a bit of cardboard to push it down some more when i closed the keyfob.

Now when i press the keyfob the led works but it does not unlock/lock the car...[:@]

I have tried using the spare key in ignition and locked the (open/closed) door (tried that both ways) then unlocked whilst holding the unlock button as the manual says but its still not working....

How do I know if its just the inard part of the keyfob that is faulty and not the transponder (glass tube)? I dont want to buy a new key to find it was the transponder or something?

is there anything else I could be missing? (2002 Leon Cupra 20VT incase that matters)

That will cost me as my pre windows 7 laptop stopepd working so I cannot use Vagcom atm.. I dont want to pay the stealer if I can help it either lol...

Does the spare key have a transponder also? The car starts and runs with either key and there are no imobiliser issues, so im guessing it is the remote part thats faulty but im not sure what the transponder actually does? like would that stop the remote locking/unlocking the doors?

Don't want to be manually using the key in the door like a common peasant anymore lmao .

my key is 433 Mhz any recomendations on the cheapest replacement off ebay?

The transponder chip is just for the IMMO so the car knows your not using a dodgy key.

You could replace the remote part with a 433MHz but you need it to be the correct part number as well. But you will still end up with the same issue that it needs pairing with the car.

Don't blame you for not wanting to visit the stealers :censored:
