New turbo will be an Kinugawa TD05-20G....

Got a used unit incl. manifold from a friend of mine. Bit dirty but no cracks = fine.

JabbaSport manifold....well...if you call that a manifold...it has more cracks and weld than basematerial left over ^^ . Will see if i can save that somehow as it seems it is out of production.

Dismantel everything....
Bearing ist made very simple but very strong, although the turbo has run 30.000km with 2bar boost @ 7000rpm, Launch control, Nolift shift and anti lag, you can hardly see any signs of wear..

Refurbed the housings:

Completed the CHRA again:

Completed turbo. (Needed currantly with this "old" CHRA only for fitting sample / orientation sample....

Approx. install position:

Here some size comparisons:

K04-023 vs. K04-064 (with RS6 turbine on picture) vs. TD05-20G (Foto 1 from left to right, Foto 2 from right to left...)

K04-064 vs. TD05

With a little help it would fall through completely ^^ :

Work left over is to make an braket for wastegate.

The manifold will be overlooked at in a specialists center to correct any cracks and design flaws...

New billet compressor wheel and custom turbine wheel will hopefully show up next week so the turbo can be finally completetd.

Then needs lower support bracket and piping done with turbo in the car.....

Here some pictures from TD05 compared to K16 Audi TTRS CHRA:

Turbineside, left TTRS, right TD05, barely any difference in measurements: (55/50 TTRS, 56/50 TD05)

TTRS K16 CHRA in TD05 turbinehousing ^^

Compressor, TD05-20G is noticeable bigger and noticeable beefier cast, thicker blades. No signs of wear or overspeeding even after sustained 2bar @ 7000rpm and 2.1bar maximum. So should be good for even more boost.....

Some little progress, got myself a pair of spares trailing arms to prepare them with SuperPro bushings.

(Its a bit easier to have them raedy to swap than having to fiddle around afterwards when the car is on the lift..)

Center housing rotating assembly TD05 "old" vs. "new" ^^

Reduced number of blades but much taller overall. Billet wheel blades themself are more slim compared to cast wheel.

Billet wheel also has Extended Tip Technology from 68 to 73mm, cast wheel ends at 68mm.

Billet is 30% less wheight.

Turbine:

Same as on compressor wheel the turbine also has less blades but slim core so that the blade area is bigger compared to the old wheel.

What I am going to change:

I dont like the shaft nut on the billet version as it is bigger than the wheel core, so I will change this to a smaller one.

Standard thust bearing will be changed to upgrade thrust bearing with bigger thrust surface and better oiling.

Standard thrust bearing with only one oiling bore:

Upgrade thrust bearing with 3 oiling bores plus reservoir:

Best regards
