I'm hoping that by having the car parked in the garage overnight then it won't be as exposed to rainfall as much so it shouldn't turn this thing into Weetabix as quickly as it would if it was parked on the street.

I would imagine that just painting over the top of it wouldn't be recommended considering there is obviously moisture held inside the material?

Ive had the seat fix done, have you jarre , maybe mines started again because of the amount of rainfall we have had lately, will see if it goes away.

Of course!

I had it on my old leon and my current leon. It doesn't work. I told SEAT UK that their fix doesn't work. They wanted me to send my car in for investigation.

Was going past the junction and decided I wanted to turn off, so went over them. It wasn't even the thick bit either, it was right at the start!

i was able to blag a repair from the (non-seat) dealer i bought the car from, even though it was a month out of warranty. i took a copy of the tpi in with me and they went for it. haven't checked it again since tbh, probably should, seeing as it's been raining sideways up here the last wee while.........

Mine is soaked too. Hung it from coat hangers for 4 days in the airing cupboard its dry now. Im going to paint the back with isoflex liquid rubber. It is flexible rubber paint that seals roofs so will stop the foam soaking up water. Another mrmber on here did the same with plastidip which is similar only dearer and harder to grt hold of. Isoflex is only £12 in b&q. Also ordered the new clips for scuttle which have rubber seals to stop water going through and will be adding the foam fix too. Hopefully this will cover all bases.

Anyone know the price of a new bonnet lining?

I asked for an itemised breakdown of the price when mine went in for the new bonnet liner and fix to be applied.

This is a copy and paste from another thread where I posted that information.

"Are you sitting down with an alcoholic drink at hand? Then I will begin.

The wife asked the question on how much the "fix" would cost had we not had it done under warranty and when she went back in to pick the car up they tallied up the cost on the work card.

There isn't any detail as to exactly what parts cost what but there are two parts listed and I assume the first is the bonnet liner at £49.90, then I guess it's the kit to fix the issue at £36.59, on top of that is the hours labour at £48, add the VAT into the game and the price is an eye watering.............£161.39

I'm really glad this got done under warranty"

Hope this helps.

It'd be piss easy to replace yourself if you just order the part.

Mines mouldy as f*** but I'm just leaving it until living things start crawling out of it. Then I'll replace it.

This.

Unless you remove the scuttle and seal it all properly, then you're easing your money. SEATs fix doesn't work. If you just replace it and don't seal it then the same thing will happen again eventually. At the end of the day it just makes the soundproofing, that you rarely look at, a bit white in places. Big deal.

Mine got to the point that it smelled absolutely rancid after a long drive (back and fore to Birmingham quite often) so it had to go in the bin. It didn't even look that mouldy but was holding an awful lot of water.

I've sealed my scuttle but not got round to replacing the sound proofing yet. Undecided whether to bother as i've not noticed any difference without it?

Wow, you must have paid a fortune for the bonnet liner then! Sump bolt is like 30p and I'm pretty sure the clips can't be more than 20p each!

The modified clips are expensive (£1.50 ish each!) plus they do no work anyway. The foam goes paper thin after a couple of months.

The clips I ordered were a part number I found on here. Meant to do a better job or something. Think they were about 2 quid each. Maybe they just saw this noob coming a mile off!!
