Just this morning my 2003 LCR started to overheat the temp gauge when right up so I immediately changed the thermostat and the temp sender but both never worked. The heaters blow hot then cold the fans on the rad are working.

I'm thinking water pump the bottom hose to the rad is cold the top one is hot

The only thing is it had a water pump and belt 6000 miles ago do you think it could have gone again.

I had this, I changed my thermostat and all hell broke loose! basically what I did to rectify the problem was the following:

1)Binned Thermostat and purchased a new one
2)Tested thermostat before installing it (boiling water in a pan)
3)Flushed system using hose pipe and cleared all the crap out of the radiator, you wont believe what came out!
4)Installed new Thermostat and bolted nice and tight
5)Refilled coolant
6)Started the car and left running with the expansion bottle cap off, wait until its up to temp and bubbling (careful!) while this is happening squeeze the coolant pipes and have the heater on full and not on aircon.
7)Once its burped itself turn the car off and do up the cap
8) Drive.....................job done
