My dash doesn't rattle, although I do have both the passenger door and drivers door seal issues. You get rattles with any types of car though, of the cars I've had in the past the 'budget' one (hyundai coupe) has actually been the least rattly (compared to mondeo, yaris, C30, V40 and a brief spell in a 3 series).

What door seal issues do you have?

Wind noise at 65/70mph. Its one of those things that I only noticed because I read a thread on here, my wife can't hear it even when trying, but now I have I can't tune it out.

I've got mine booked in for a couple of weeks time to have a look at both doors, the rear view mirror and dash squeaks/rattles.

We'll see if they can be fixed!

I have managed to track down the most severe dash rattle to the passenger side air vent - the ducting inside of the vent is vibrating against the grill/louvre unit, with maximum resonance around 2000 rpm. Seems to disappear when being held firmly in place by a passenger. Hopefully getting it sorted when back in the UK.

I feel for you. I will put mine in to get looked at again when its time for a service but tying to hold off in hope for a TPI or whatever they are called. My drivers side door card is getting worse.

Cheers fella! Im picking up an 1.4FR with Tech and 18s, I know people will say that if you wanted quality you should of bought a golf but for me they are so bland looking in comparison to the Leon. The car I test drove felt well screwed together and all the switch gear was identical to the golf so.. 2+2=... Oh well fingers crossed I get a good one! Apologies for hijacking the thread!

Reading through some of the threads found your one and wondered how you have found the car since you got it??

Like you I was concerned about the issues before I got the car ( and some of these issues could have been found on the mark6 golf on various forums so not just Seat have the problems in VAG group. )

Anyway up to now 4 weeks in and 800 miles, my car has been great, am hoping it stays that way once everything loosens up.

Could be that the factory is getting too many complaints and hopefully tightening up QC.

I have had this as well, on the passenger side. I'm at ~17000 miles, car is 7 months old.

Having this intermittently. First a few weeks ago, doing 40 mph, then a few times again (today as well), but sometimes it's gone. I thought maybe I had something loose somewhere in the car but couldn't find anything.

Now that I've seen this thread I might take it to a dealer indeed...

Rattles and squeaks FR184Leon

This has been an on going problem since owning the car since Sept13, covering 7k miles , and partly spoiling my ownership of a new and what is a really well sorted car. BUT I have now sorted all the problems from around the dashboard by a long process of elimination. My dealer had offered to look at it but worried they could make the problem worst started to do my own investigation....
1st I started with adjusting the steering column down that stretches out the rubber trim below the console, this helped a little.
2nd I found that either side of the steering column the padded trim ends of the dashboard were moving up and down on the inset shiny trim. So I fixed these together with a little bit of araldite pushed under the edges.
3rd I then found the clear plastic cover to the speedo was resonating on certain road surfaces.
So a little WD40 was squirted down between the clear pastic and the dark plastic trin that holds the trip button.
The difference with all these diys is that all the squeaks have gone !! :D
I have noticed that the clear plastic speedo cover is quite loose in its black trim and if any further probs I may need to fix that in place too.
I hope this will help others who are having these problems, fortunately and fingers crossed I have nothing from the doors which I am reading a lot about:think:

sorry to bring this thread up again

my car came back from the dealer again today to find out that yet again the rattle is still there especially in the drivers side

now to give them credit they stopped the passenger side rattle but now when ever i go over those raised yellow lines in the road i get a deeper tone noise coming from that door now :|

tbh i am really getting pi**ed off now as its just wasting my time and petrol going back and forth . have you guys got any tips on what i can say to them or get them to do without sounding like a complete pr*k to them ?

aslo bait of topic but my car has done 6500 miles and when i checked the oil tester day it was showing 1/4 left

thanks liam

Mine has been in and out 4 times. Now again I've got all the rattles back and tbh I've been looking forward to them coming back because last time they said they would change the door cards next time. So I will be booking the car in again soon. Also my other half works at Jaguar and they got a new technician which they stole from Seat next door and he said that the door rattles are a problem with the the door cards themselves. The new cards have been modified to prevent this problem.

Mines has been in and out more times than I can remember now lol Both my door cards rattle, with the driver side the worse as it goes slightly crazy with any sort of bass on the speaker.

My solution now is that I've given up as I just didn't have the time to constantly take the car in and out of the garage. The car will be due its yearly service in October so i'll just wait until then and get them to fit new door cards. In the mean time i'll just enjoy the amazing 184 engine and the stunning looks of the car :)

you will a;so find that the panels under the dash both sides that hold the footwell lights vibrate as they are not fixed at the ends and the drivers side one then vibrates the trap door next to steering colume i put some tape over the lugs on trap door so its more solid when its shut as for footwell light panel wedged some sponge for short fix untill i can fix it properly as no one can see it see photos
