Exhaust pop

Hi,

I have an Ibiza Cupra TSI and I've noticed they can pop on gear change when the exhaust is changed with an aftermarket one. What I want to know, is there anyway of getting the car to pop on the gearchange without changing the exhaust as I don't want a loud exhaust or anything. I know its probably the stock exhaust silencers suppressing the noise, just would like the pops but preferably without having a loud exhaust

Thanks

I know, I've had a look on YouTube and there's clips with them exhausts and they sound nice, just prefer to hear stuff in person. I've just spent a few coins on a spoiler and skirts for the car, so deffo can't afford anything else ATM, or I'd have been interested in the exhaust. I would have come up to hear it on your car before ya took it off as I don't live far away!

a cheap alternative would be to remove the centre silencer, a lot of people go for that option.

I'm from just outside Durham mate.

And yeah, removing the silencer seems to be done quite a lot, suppose its a cheap option!

It'll just make the exhaust a bit louder as you're removing a silencer. Might make the exhaust flow slightly better but it won't give any increase in power.

I'm happy enough with the power and performance aspect I just wouldnt want it to sound like a tractor lol! Any videos with just the middle silencer removed?

Have a look on YouTube mate, a few on there. Although, I like to hear the sound when the cars actually moving rather than just idleing and revving as they generally sound a lot different under load. I'm gonna probably do this to mine, as it's really cheap to do and if I don't like it, it's easy to put back and I haven't spend a load on an exhaust!

Na it shouldn't do mate, you'd just void the warranty on the centre silencer I suppose, but if you've removed it you don't need a warranty on it lol. Won't affect the other components, but if ya bothered about, just ask the dealer

You void the warranty of any part you remove/replace so the exhaust warranty will become void more than likely.

And in worst case you will void the engine warranty. As the exhaust back pressure will change the dealer will be able to say that it broke the engine. Seen dealers get warranties void with this kind of tactic.

I would probably remove mine if I had not worked for a dealer in the past and knowing how tough it is to get your car fixed under warranty if its a major failure.

that would be a load of rubbish thow as that wouldnt cause any damage to the engine but yes i can imagine then using that excuse

tbh mate I have the miltek and the oem centre box removed but its not loud at all! means sounds real nice but not really loud

so I am going custom basically a straight pipe but tiny back box this time

also every one has a miltek :D

As an ex VAG mechanic I know :D. But you should see what dealers say and do to get out of fixing a car. And even if everyone knows that it won't affect the engine but how do you prove it if you are not a professional and Seat says that it caused the problem. Even if they dont get out of all the responsibility they might be able to get out partly.

That would only work if the person the dealership was denying wasn't savvy. My car is currently going through the process of getting a new engine hopefully (failed 3 consumption tests) and there's a 3" pipe where the centre box used to be.

I would enjoy the conversation of them trying to deny it on altered back pressure.
