As Smurf stated, it comes on when you unlock the car and stays on till you lock it again, same as the footwell lights.

Is this true? Not been out in ours when dark yet, but it will really annoy me if the foot well lights stay on.

Checked mine tonight and it definitely turns off when you close the glove box.

I placed my phone recording video and when I closed it, it turned off.

It is true. About two months before, when I changed the normal lamp with led I tried this method. It is not related with footwell lights. There is a secret button inside I think.

doesn't work like that on mine, definitely only goes out along with the footwell lights when I lock the car
Have had all the glovebox out to wire in a reversing camera and never came across a switch on the glovebox

looks like another gash job by seat "quality control" to add to the list when it goes in for service next month :-(

after another look, the lamp does go off if I lift the glove box lid - to take up the slack...
So, YES it does have a switch, although badly implemented :-(
I wonder how many more faults are there yet to be found? a tad disappointed with all these niggles.

Noticed tonight that my glovebox light is on all the time. Comes on when you unlock the car and off when locking. Will have a look tomorrow once I find out how to remove the glovebox.

There is a switch for the glove box light, it's on the bottom edge of the fuse box. Used the old camera trick to check, sometimes it stays on others it goes off. To me this would suggest that the switch or lid needs some adjustment.

Car went into the dealers today for the glove box light staying on. They adjusted the switch, and now the light goes off before the lid is completely closed. About 25mm from fully closed.

There is a switch in there, I noticed when i had to get to my fuses that mine was staying on all the time. Not sure how they "adjusted" one, as I couldint find any adjustment in mine - I just stuck something on top of the switch. Bit of a bodge, but there was no way I was bothering taking it back for something so small.
