Hi need a bit of advice from the people in the know.

My partner has a 2002 110 toledo tdi s with a 127'000 approx miles.
A few weeks a go a car went into the back of her since then the insurance has writeen the car off. To look at it you would not know it had been damaged it has to screw marks in the bumper from the other cars number plate and the bootlid has dropped very slightly on the drivers side there is a note on the insurance forms to have the bumper support checked for damage.

We have bought the car back from the insurance company but the salavage yard that has it has contacted us directly saying they will buy the car from us for £200 which to me seems low even though its a cat c we sold a cat c vw a few years back for £400 that had a lot more damage and a lot higher miles than this car.

So as its cat C what do you guys think its worth? (I know it has to be vic checked there is no bent floor or twists in the chasis etc to be honest if i was to put it back on the road i dunno if i would change anything) Its just had all new brake discs and pads cambelt change in the last year

They're having a giraffe - you could make £200 in the parts you could remove in an afternoon

For £40 I'd chuck it in for a VIC check and carry on using it tbh

I'd check ....I think once a VIC marker is issued you have to get it inspected before it can be used on the road, even if it still has the old tax and MOT

^ Not sure where I'd got this from.

Get it booked in. If it's only superficial damage (remember, like the MOT, they can't remove any panels to check, so as long as any sharp edges have tape over it'll pass) you can get the VIC marker taken off and use it as normal.

I imagine your old insurance have cancelled your original policy now. That'll be your only sticking-point - quite a few mainstream insurers won't cover Cat vehicles. Axa (and their brokers) certainly don't.

The last time we had a similar the insurance said we could carry on using the vechicle as long as its safe to drive
